What, No Running Back????!!!!
We all know the Rams have many holes to fill, it would have been nice to see them aquire a 'change of pace' back, out of the draft. A runningback that would acent as a diversion to Sam Bradford's big passing game and take some of the workload off an aging Steven Jackson.
The Rams had Mark Ingram right there, in the 1st round. Why not?! A Heisman winner picked up by New Orleans, who's sure to make that team's chances of getting back to the Superbowl that much greater.
The Cards picked up Ryan Williams (Va. Tech), in the 2nd round, however, this may have been a reach for the Rams.
The Patriots picked up RBs in rds 2 & 3, which shows what a Good QB really needs as his main weapon, in running a efficient and successful offense.
Think of the future of what might have been for the Rams, with Bradford and Ingram in the same backfield. Hopefully things won't stall, in the Rams' run game, as in the many 3rd and shorts the Rams failed to convert last season!Last edited by dgr828; -05-01-2011 at 12:49 PM.

Re: What, No Running Back????!!!!
I'm glad we didn't draft Ingram. We didn't need to spend that high of a pick on a running back when the running back we have is still productive. But we should have been able to pick up a better back-up in the later rounds. Maybe the FO has their eyes on a guy in FA, I'm not sure. But if we start the season with Ken Dahbee and Keith Toasted as our other running back options again, that would be disappointing.
But again, spending a high first round pick on a guy that almost fell out of the first round would have been silly.

Re: What, No Running Back????!!!!
Mark Ingram would have been the one choice I would have been upset with. Do you know what the difference is between the Rams' roster and that of the Saints, Cards, and Patriots is? I'll give ya a hint, he wears #39.

Re: What, No Running Back????!!!!
Plenty of people establish the run game to open up the passing game but i believe McDaniels is more of a create an aerial assault and it opens up the running game.
The Pats seem to do alright and i can't remember the last time they had a quality rb as good as SJ... let a lone a quality number 2 rb.
Just my 2 cents.

Why not? Two words.......Robert.....Quinn.The Rams had Mark Ingram right there, in the 1st round. Why not?!"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: What, No Running Back????!!!!
I'm okay with it. If Atogwe wasn't lost to Redskins, then I think there's more chance you go for a runner. but with there now being a "need" at safety in addition to WILL and DL... that trumps what could arguably amount to a "want" at rb.

Re: What, No Running Back????!!!!
Jackson will still produce for a couple more years. We can draft a nice running back in the 1st round in the future.

Re: What, No Running Back????!!!!
Point taken, but I PROMISE Mark Ingram ISN'T the next Marshall Faulk.
Btw, I'm w Hub. Quinn is 10 times the pick Ingram would've been.If a team won their division seven straight times, that would be a NFL record. Now add on that team did it with seven different QB's in seven straight years, that record is unbeatable. To do that feat, you must of had a great Defense. Jack Youngblood was the captain of that defense.

Re: What, No Running Back????!!!!
Actually, I agree dgr828. Mark Ingram is the last running back ever. By passing on him with the 14th pick, we will never ever have the chance to draft or sign another running back, EVER.
What were we thinking?

Re: What, No Running Back????!!!!
Pouncy was right there. He would have settled all this running back bickering. But I respect Spagvaney's choice to net more points; even if scored by the defense.

Re: What, No Running Back????!!!!
I fail to see how anyone could look at the Rams roster and conclude that back-up RB was the spot for the first pick, particularly when NOBODY viewed Ingram as an elite prospect.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Not to mention the fact that we could sign a undrafted or a free agent. Derrick locke wasn't drafted he would be a nice change of pace back.
