Dude, he just signed a $38.5 million contract with $19 million guaranteed and you're predicting he will be gone by 2014?

This is like some kind of wonderful buffet where every item is something you've got to have on your plate. Every one of these choices will be intriguing. However, I think the RB battle, and to a lesser degree the WR battle, will end up without a strict hierarchy. Positions will be filled, but I think any grasp of a #1, #2, #3, etc. structure would be tenuous, at best. The LG battle should be interesting. Watkins, Washington, Smith, or the much decorated Jones?

But the one that has my interest.......the Safety spot. We're starting with nothing but a hope and a prayer. Does Stewart regain his 2011 form, which was actually decent? Does the intriguing Daniels and McLeod step up after making the team last year? Is there anything to the two UDFAs from this year? Is McDonald just a shot-taker, or is a true asset at SS?

I have to go with the RB battle which will most probably be decided at the end of the preseason

Had to go OL. Just imagine if we have 10 OL players and the most difficult question is who to cut. I hope they all want the job and all put their best effort into earning it.

If our OL is that solid, all other positions will be better...

I agree with his royal Hub'ness. I also think there will be no 'true' every down back. I can see a lot of rotation going on there.

Givens outside, Austin in the slot, others rotating with a preference to Quick for the other side.

    Safety = SS - Stewart
    FS - McDonald

Re: What will be the most intriguing camp battle in 2013?

To provide a more detailed answer than my first response in this thread, I think the question becomes where will the actual battles take place.

To me, it would be an upset if Quick and Givens weren't the starting WRs on the outside with Austin in the slot, and the expected starting safety duo is Stewart/McDonald.

Those will be positions to watch in the event that something shocking happens and one of those guys at either WR or S is overtaken, but I don't know that they're battles in the same way RB and OL are.

At running back, any one of the three guys at the position could emerge as the first person in the rotation. I think that makes for a good battle; who is going to emerge as the first punch of the combo, and who is going to be relegated to a more off-the-bench role?

Along the offensive line, Rok Watkins has been a fan favorite to start at left guard, but I don't think the Rams signed Chris Williams to the kind of deal they did to not give him a shot to start inside. He's proved himself to be a first round bust at tackle but he could emerge as a starting guard on this team.

So with what I perceive as less certainty regarding the RB and OL battles when compared to the WR and S battles, I'd have to go with them.

I went with RB. The other 3 position were/are all still developmental (meaning they were holes last season). It'll be very interesting to see if any of the backs can fill the void left by SJ.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!

I see it the exact reverse as you do. To me McDonald will be the more in the box SS type player while Stewart is more likely to be the deep back FS. McDonald has yet to show his ability to play in space while Stewart is better at coverage, based on his play in 2011. But there is also the matter of Matt Daniels who is good at run coverage, but not so much at pass coverage. All this will sort itself out in camp and pre-season.

    Go Rams!

First off, don't expect it to be WR, because all these guys will get the ball, like in Green Bay.

I think it will be the RB battle, and maybe LG.
