Well, McNabb has always been good. But we need major help on the secondary.
I can't tell you what's wrong with our secondary except for the fact that they're unprepared. Or it could be the fact the this team won't play for Linehan.
The Rams secondary is lousy and has been for the most part since the Super Bowl winning team. More or less the same players as last year will earn the same results. We can point blame all we want at the coaching but at some point we have to look at the players who are actually on the field.
Tye Hill- proving to be more of a bust with every game he plays
Ron Bartell- average player at best
Corey Chavous- finished as a player and has been for years- he wouldn't be starting for most NFL teams. The nicest thing people can say about him is about his "leadership". He must be leading from a few steps behind- just like his coverage
Fahkir Brown- slightly above average player- has a drug problem and was out most of the preseason with an injury
Atogwe- to me very overrated. Yeah, he had 8 interceptions last season, but was also out of position on a bunch of plays and seemed to be again on Sunday a lot.
Bartell is a very athletic player. But that don't make him a good football player. He came in raw and many people liked him for his athletic ability but he has a hard time in coverage and he needs to go.
Mcnabb is that good, and always has been! He got the ball to everyone and that is hard to cover...But man the blown coverages.
Hill looked like he was trying too hard for an interception and made some big mistakes because of it. I couldn't tell you what was wrong with the rest of the bunch. Every single healthy receiver on their roster made plays against us. From the rookie who put up 106 yards receiving to their no. 6 man Avant with 45 yards.
I didn't notice a whole lot of plays being made against our safeties, though. Their tight end L.J. Smith didn't have a play for more than 10 yards, and McNabb seemed to be throwing away from the double coverage whenever the safeties dropped back. Also, regarding Chavous, he is the one relaying the defensive signals instead of one of the linebackers. The players voted him defensive captain, and I thought he did a decent job coming across the field to drag down players after others botched the coverage, keeping the big plays from being any worse than they already were. I think people scapegoat him too much.
I think Chavous owns McNabb in his fantasy team...

We could've got some really good players at the spot where we took Hill.
This makes me a little angry.
