Whats up with that!

Quote:
If running back Frank Gore ever needs assistance with Mike Martz's system, he has the ultimate hotline number. Marshall Faulk told Gore during the off-season to call any time.

Faulk is such a willing teacher that he volunteered to fly to Gore's home in Miami for a workout, Gore said Saturday.
Maybe its just not the teams that are not so loyal.

Re: Whats up with that!

What IS up with that? It's curious that he was pretty much MIA in 2006 despite being paid by the Rams to sit out and recover from surgery, but he'll take time out of his busy schedule to fly down to Florida and workout with Frank Gore? And volunteer to do it? Maybe he felt shortchanged by his retirement ceremony.

Or maybe the loyalty is to the coach, not the franchise. For all the bad things said about Martz, his guys followed him to Detroit, Bruce followed him to San Fran, and now Faulk is offering to help one of Martz' players learn the system.

Seriously if you were an ex-ram from this past decade would you be loyal to the org? I wouldn't, cutting Bruce put the icing on that cake!

I feel like crying. I don't know. I have both Marshall Faulk's and Isaac Bruce's jerseys on my wall because they're my favorite players. I can understand Bruce, but Marshall? Come on...

Re: Whats up with that!

Or maybe the idea of romanticizing and idolizing a franchise is limited to the fans.

Faulk doesn't see it as helping the niners and hurting the Rams.......he's just helping out a young kid where he can.

I think you hit the nail on the head and Hubison also made a good point about him just helping a young guy out, sometimes people read to much into things.

Re: Whats up with that!

This is obviously just a result of the good relationship between Faulk and Martz, but there is no getting around the fact that Marshall would be helping the biggest weapon of our most bitter rival, who we will be fighting for a division title with and playing twice this year. I'm sure there is no malice or disloyalty involved, but it's still a little hard to take when it's the whiners.

Re: Whats up with that!

well wasnt it the brief mentoring of stephen davis that helped jax have his breakout year..after faulk had been trying for 2 years previously?

food for thought..

Re: Whats up with that!

Maybe Faulk wants to get into coaching and he thinks that Mike Martz might be a guy who would hire him to his staff.

Re: Whats up with that!

Not a bad idea Av, but he always said he wants to get in on the front office side for the Rams. I don't have a huge issue with this because hey, he became even more of a superstar under Martz and won a super bowl with him. Of course I'd go help that coach if he asked.

Would you feel as mad if it was still Detroit, or some other team? No, it's because it's the Whiners, who happened to be the ones who hired Martz and picked up Bruce. It's not like Marshall is offering to help a division rival just for the hell of it.

What's kinda strange is that we didn't hear anything like this last year for Bell or Jones in Detroit, but whatever. Gore'll need all the help he can get once Long gets him in his sights.

Re: Whats up with that!

I kinda don't blame him by wanting to help out his old coach Martz who helped get him a super bowl ring instead of helping a dud Linny who has tarnished his once great franchise. Besides he was with S-Jax for a couple years so he has already taught him most of the things he know. That is part of the reason SJ is so good.

I don't know. As a Dodger fan, I see it as if Sandy Koufax turned up at the Giant's training camp to help Barry Zito. Yeow. My hair's on fire.
