    When will we learn??

When will this team and it's d-coordinators learn that the prevent defense does not work any more.

This was a nice win. But, where was our blitzing again today? MAN!

I agree, but its not just us. Teams have been using the "prevent" defense forever. Far too often, the only thing it prevents is a win. Thankfully, Marmie finally made an aggressive call that preserved the win.

    Re: When will we learn??

It sounds like we were getting decent pressure with our linemen, and we'd been beat a couple of times blitzing earlier in the game. Maybe Marmie just figured our front four could get enough pressure in there. Bringing Arch there in the red zone was a risky but great decision, not just because of the sack, but because it made the Cards offense scramble, resulting in their penalty.

    Re: When will we learn??

I kept screaming for more blitzing in the 2nd quarter, but the front four appeared to be getting good pressure in the 3rd and 4th without it. I guess if the D-line can create pressure without blitzing there's no need to roll the dice and risk a big play. And with the rate that our DB's are falling to injury, this bend-don't-break rush-4 Defense may be what we see all year long. As long as Kennedy and Pickett can keep pushing the pocket like they did yesterday, we should be allright.

Well, when both Groce and Fisher came up a little lame it changed the way the Rams had to play. The Rams had to protect the weakened secondary by playing a Cover 2 not necessarily a prevent.
