Who is the Rams' next "from nowhere" star?

In the GSOT days, the Rams had their share of significant contributers who came "from nowhere" including Kurt Warner and London Fletcher.

Who on the current roster do you see as a potential "from nowhere" star?

I'd really like to see George Selvie come in and be a monster against the pass. He's my pick.

With that said, I think the most likely player to succeed is Brandon Gibson. He looks like a WR built to succeed in this system and showed flashes of it after the trade last year. I'm looking to him specifically to step it up big time as our possession WR. Ideally, he'll become a poor man's Reggie Wayne.

I voted Brooks Foster, but I think Laurent Robinson should be on the list. Justin King is another kid who shows great potential.

Overall it's hard to tell. I kind of feel like I have been almost too close to the team and I'm looking at everyone through kool aid colored glasses. I guess that the players ability/luck to stay healthy is probably a bigger factor then even talent.

I voted "someone else". I'm fairly certain the Rams haven't found "that guy" yet. Some possibilities for goodness, but not greatness. IMHO.

I think it's to be determined. I'm halfway banking on another situation where we end up snagging a guy off of someone elses' practice squad a'la Danny Amendola. Otherwise I'd really like to see Bobby Carpenter light it up since he's apparently been written off by most of the NFL.

I picked Darrell Scott, mainly because I think in order to become a star you have to be on the field and I think he is in line for the most minutes out of anybody on that list.

Wow! I was also thinking George Selvie, surprised to see alot others feel that the same. Hopefully the torch is passed from Leonard Little.
This whole 2010 draft class could be a special one for the Rams, who filled their specific needs, and if it all comes together, a few star should emerge.
I also see Steven Jackson passing the torch to Chris Ogbonnaya.

Selvie might bring so much pressure that Scott does become a star.

Re: Who is the Rams' next "from nowhere" star?

When I voted on this poll I thought we were we were only talking about this year. So I eliminated Davis and Obomanu of the bat because I felt they were both high upside guys who would show glimpses this year, but would not immediately become stars. Could they be our TE and DE starters in the future, most definately IMO. Both are terrific athletes and are physical specimen. If they stay driven and are coached up both could be stars on this team.

With Ogbonaya even though I think he could be a really good backup how much of star can you be playing behind steven jackson?

Foster and Gibson are interesting they are both the same type of players. I like them both to make the roster and at this point the reciver situation is up in air imo nothing is set in stone out Amendola, Avery, Gibson, Robinson, Foster, and Gillyard any of those guys could be the number one guy or the number 2 its up in the air.

I went with Scott. Similar to Onobun and Davis entering this year he was a high upside guy who hadn't put it all together. Towards the end of the season DeVaney told him get his act together or get out and he really turned it on. He showed us glimpses of a guy who could really be disruptive at the defensive tackle spot. Spags knows how to use his d-lineman I think Robbins will be the starter, but Scott could be the D-lineman getting the most snaps of the bench as he continues to develop. He has the size the speed and the strength, he has shown glimpses of being a good player. To me he is the safest bet for the out of nowhere star.

Re: Who is the Rams' next "from nowhere" star?

    For me it's either:

    Michael Hoomanawanui or Eugene Sims.

Why Hoomana? Because he's steadily impressed coaches and teammates during these OTA's by showing impressive hands and big play ability leaping for tough catches, and showing some nice one handed grabs. He's also a big mauler type guy, and he can use his body to shield defenders from the ball, and out-muscle them.

I think he and Onobun will be our TEs of the future, but Hoomana has more chance of succeeding due to experience.

    Why Eugene Sims?

Like Hall Davis, Sims is a physical specimen, and has all the physical skillsets to be a dominate pass rusher. For some reason, I just like Sims more than Davis.
