Re: Who will be the No. 6 WR
I'd have to say Hagans. He looks pretty good out there of what I've seen, and he's definitely got the elusiveness for punt and kickoff returns, hopefully he's the next Hakim for our special teams.

Re: Who will be the No. 6 WR
I would just as soon the Rams keep only 5 Wrs (Holt, Bruce, Curtis, McDonald, and Looker) and use the other slot for either Hedgecock or Jerome Collins. As posted elsewhere, I do not think either Hagans or Pyatt have done enough to warrant a position on this team.

Re: Who will be the No. 6 WR
I had to be realistic, so I picked Hagans even though I'm not too enthusiastic about him. I just don't see any chance of them cutting him now, it would make them look stupid for picking him. I guess the reason I'm not thrilled with him is 2-fold. First, his returns (especially kickoffs) haven't been very good, and his receiving skills have been almost absent. Second, generally I'm not a big fan of 'slash' type players, you know - jack of all trades, master of none. Also drafting players and switching their positions around hasn't worked out very well for us earlier (at least not any of the cases I remember, maybe I'm missing some?). I'm thinking of Crouch, Furrey etc. There are at least a handful of other players I'd rather see remaining on our roster than Hagans, but realistically I think he's safe.

Re: Who will be the No. 6 WR
If I had to pick a #6 receiver, it'd be Hagans over Pyatt. But...

I tend to agree. I really haven't seen enough from either for me to feel as if we need to carrying a sixth receiver. Pyatt has two preseason catches, Hagans has one. Not enough for me to want to keep either based on production at the receiver position (though one of Pyatt's grabs was a long one), and neither has wowed me at their respective specialist positions.
Plus, if the Rams really have decided to go with McDonald on punt returns, is there really a point in keeping Hagans? The guy's a project at receiver whose only immediate contribution would have been on special teams. Take that away, and I have to wonder if the practice squad wouldn't be a better destination. That being said, it's hard to send a fifth rounder to the practice squad, so I'm not going to be surprised either way.

Re: Who will be the No. 6 WR
Hmmmmmmm....its been suggested we keep 4 TE's, and now 6 WR's. Is this where we must maximize depth? Just asking.

Re: Who will be the No. 6 WR
I say dump them both, practice squad for Hagans, at best. Hagans has been better than Pyatt overall, but neither has shown me enough to use one to tie up a spot that takes away from either the offense or defense.
If you're sole purpose is to return kicks, you better be significantly better than the rest of the pack, and I don't think they are.

Re: Who will be the No. 6 WR
I have not been impressed with Hagans or Pyatt.
But, given the choice - I have to go with Hagans. He seems to be the most elusive of the two and can actually make a tackler miss.

Re: Who will be the No. 6 WR
There is an argument to be made for keeping brian howard and hedgecock rather than a 6th wide receiver. I wouldnt keep a fourth tight end and cut either hedgecock or howard.
However, if we do go with 6, i would bet on hagans. While i appreciate that many on this board havent been all that impressed with him, i would suggest that when he was drafted, the coaches knew that he was a project and would require work given that he was switching positions. He is very new at what he is doing, both from a receiving and return perspective. I think it is unlikely that he will get cut based on the limited amount we have seen in games IF, and its a considerable IF, his work ethic is good and he appears to be improving in practice and picking it up quickly. That is not something that we are in a position to know given how little we see of these guys.

Re: Who will be the No. 6 WR
I think it will be Hagans, he has not looked great as a returner we still have one game left. One of the things we are not seeing in the preseason is the whole playbook. I will bet there are a few plays where Hagans plays WR and ends up passing or QB and just keeps in down in the red zone. I think they took him for more then just punts and kick offs.

Re: Who will be the No. 6 WR
I think Hagans brings more to the table than Pyatt. I'm not sure if he will be the primary return guy, but he has shown good athletic ability. I'm sure Linehan will have some special plays drawn up with Hagens in mind.
Don't forget that he could be used as an emergency QB if needed.

jk, not a bad idea. i dont think ellard has much speed anymore, but i bet you that if it hits him in the hands he will catch it.
