Fitzpatrick seems to have that certain intangible 'something' about him. I think it would be a mistake to let him walk, I think in time he could be very good.

Well. This is very One Sided. I don't see how even possible Ragone would be leading. But I wouldn't be suprised to see him being odd man out since he was with Linehan at Louisville.

Ryan Fitzpatrick. I think he shows more potential and is more promising as a good QB back-up. I even see him becoming our 2nd QB after Frerotte retires.

I hope you are referring to the female tennis player Chris Evert, and not our own Jim Everett. :\ In the eyes of Rams fans Jim should never be labeled as "Chris Evert", no matter what that blowhard Jim Rome says.

    Fitz will be the #3.

    Well said! Well said.

Also, Fitzpatrick has a relative advantage of alreay knowing some of the Rams offense schemes, even if there are changes being made to them as we speak. He has worked with our receivers too.

I like Fitzpatrick more, plus he's younger.

You have to remember. New Coaching staff equals new schemes, concepts, termanology.

Fitzpatrick is as new to this as Bulger. ALSO Ragone played for Linehan at Lousville so he knows already, well would have a jump start over Fitzpatrick.

    Enough already....
Seeing that everyone that's posted seems to be a "Fitz" junkie, this might come across as blasphemy.
Be open to the possibility that the "moxie", toughness & will to win more resides within Ragone than Fitz.
Two more exhibition games to go....despite only a few weeks working with Linehan's offense & new cast of players, Ragone's performance last Saturday reflects a growing comfort level with the system & personnel.
What I will say is this...either one of them are better than a vast majority of the third QB's in most camps & probably more than a few two's. Indy & Cleveland immediately come to mind.

Re: Who is winning the battle for the third QB spot?

I'm not really sure it is a good test in a age where they don't have the opportunity to work with the better players and playing against the back-ups.

Linehan has to get a better feel for their progression when watching them in practice. Who is grasping the offense... who is a better leader. The one with better tools isn't always the better player.

Re: Who is winning the battle for the third QB spot?

i think fitz has played better so far,but ragone was hand picked by linehan so,he wouldnt have brought him in if he didnt think he could get it done,i believe fitz has to prove he can do it more than ragone does,i think ragone just has to hold serve in order to become #3.

Re: Who is winning the battle for the third QB spot?

I think Ragone was only hand-picked to provide competition so that it would force Fitzpatrick to elevate his game. Fitzpatrick has been more consistent and accurate in camp and games. He's extremely bright and has a better pocket presence. He also still hs the potential to become a #2 QB in another year, while Ragone is a 3rd string lifer at best. Smart move would be to keep Fitzpatrick IMO.

Maybe you're right, I don't know......but I am curious as to what makes you think a QB who is 0-2 as a starter and hasn't thrown a pass in nearly three years has more "moxie, toughness and a will to win"?
