Thumbs up Who wins the Rams@Chiefs game? Joplin, MO!

Most of you know that Joplin, MO (about 70 miles west of Springfield) was recently devestated by an F-4 tornado - winds of OVER 200 MPH. Over 150 people died from this storm, and about a third of the town was destroyed. Local high school students are going to class in the mall. Some people are still living in tents, and the largest of the two hospitals was destroyed.

The Chiefs and Rams both stepped up to help Joplin shortly after the tornado. Both teams volunteered time, personnel, and money to help the recovery. Now, they are doing it once again.

I usually talk smack about the Governor's cup game, since I am not a fan of the Chiefs. This year, there will not be a loser on the field - because the true winner of the game will be the people of Joplin, Missouri, no matter what the scoreboard says at the end of the 4th quarter.

That's great to hear. It was noted in the Titans game coverage that The Rams had won some sort of award for community service last year; most money raised, iirc. Not bad for a mid-market team in this economy.

Kudos to both organizations for helping to keep devastated communities in the public mind & heart after the headlines are gone.

As someone who lives in the immediate area of Joplin and has had family affected, I say thank you to the St. Louis Rams. Not just to the Rams, but to every NFL team who is making an effort to help out Joplin. Pictures do not do the devastation justice. It's awful, no way around it. But we're hardy in southwest Missouri, and we're slowly rebuilding. And to organizations that offer support, we are eternally in your debt. Thank you.
