Who in the world called the onside kick in the beginning of the game?
But the whole game was bad. This is really hurting me, and even more now that Suh got that INT. All of sudden, i'm not as optimistic any more.
Re: Who in the world called the onside kick in the beginning of the game?
Yea, it really does makes me wonder. But I'm not gonna write him off like that because of another bad/so so game and a loss. I still have faith but we need more weapons, but thats another topic.
But that decision was horrible. Dont try to be fancy, just kickoff normally and play defense. If you get burned, you get burned. Recover and forget. But to call an onside kick at the beginning of a game like this and not get it makes you wonder what the hell was our special teams coach thinking

i consider the onside kick in the beginning equivalent to a turnover, and also shows that we have no faith in the defense...which i believe now after the game.
Re: Who in the world called the onside kick in the beginning of the game?
I thought the onside kick showed great faith in the defense. Because if you miss, you're in poor field position and will need the defense to bail you out.
I don't mind the call if they thought they had a good read on the other side.
Re: Who in the world called the onside kick in the beginning of the game?
Yea I don't think the call was that big of a deal.
Tried something different and it didn't work. Big deal.
It did so faith in the defense and the faith was returned by holding them to a field goal.
Not a game changing moment.
Re: Who in the world called the onside kick in the beginning of the game?
Seems to me it's one of those "great call if it works, horrible call if it doesn't" deals... I don't know what to think about it: I would have had to seen the special teams analysis for the game, seen if it was working in practice, seen if it had worked against them in the past, etc...

I disagree, that play got the disaster ball rolling.

Had we recovered it, this thread would be praising Spags as a genius.

How is 3 to 3 a disaster? We had the game tied and that play was well in the rear view mirror.

I'll second that!
Re: Who in the world called the onside kick in the beginning of the game?
Well, today was rough, but it just shows that we have to stand behind the team.
Every team will have good days and bad days.
Re: Who in the world called the onside kick in the beginning of the game?
my question is why start out with a desperation play against this team?

Yes fine line between genius and insanity. Me personally, really do not want to see those gimmick plays on the road for sure. Either way, work or not, not sound fundamental football prowess one expects from the HC....
