Re: Who would you choose??
so many great former Rams to choose from.... but looking at it from a need perspective for this upcoming year only, I feel the Rams are in most need of some serious veteran leadership and play ability in the secondary. But some serious presence on the O-line or a Ellard type of wr wouldn't hurt either.
No offense to Chavous but Rams need someone who could lead in the locker room, as well as on the field, and put the entire defensive secondary on his shoulders.
So, assuming the team is as is, and I can throw a magical 54th player, I'd go with Aeneas Williams. Type of player who was heart and soul, which is just what the secondary and entire defense needs.
On the offensive side, I'd put Barron on the bench to memorize his snap counts and put in good ol' HOF tackle Jackie slater. SJ and Bulger wouldn't mind the help i'm sure.
good post. I know the AW pick is off the wall - I'm interested to see some of the others!

Re: Who would you choose??
Yeah I just remember meeting Aeneas at a place between my hometown and St. Louis. Some of you may know it...Lamberts...home of throwed rolls. Lots of starts had been there. Everyone from Willie Nelson to the KC Cheifs cheerleaders. I met him and I had always loved his game, but he as a person was one of the nicest people in the world. He actually invited be over to his table and let me sit with him and a friend of his and who I suppose was his wife. He offered to pay for my food, but I wouldnt let him. I started to leave and he got my attention and he said "dont you wont an autograph". Thats how good of a conversation we had...I forgot it was a star...during the conversation he seemed just as any other hard working blue collar man.

There are so many, but I'd have to say Todd Lyght. Just liked the way the guy played the game.

Re: Who would you choose??
Too good a question to answer lightly!
Too many great players as well to chose from for the cause of 2008.
Eric Dickerson + Steven Jackson = Running Rams
Merlin Olsen + Clifton Ryan + Adam Carriker + Chris Long = Fantastic Four
Jack Youngblood in lieu of Olsen = Can you imagine?
Deacon Jones in lieu of Youngblood = Sack-a-mania!
No, sorry; this is just too much for me to wonder.

Re: Who would you choose??
what a great story! my wife and i are from the foothills in california and every time we go visit my brother in law who lives in poplar bluff missouri we insist on going to LAMBERTS. easily one of the best places i've ever been to. i only wish i was there to meet AENEUS, this guy would definetly put some "baaaad aaa$$" back into our rams! he should be in CANTON.

Re: Who would you choose??
First off, interesting thread. Nice Job!
Well, I want defense.
Why? Recent history, a page from the Giants. Not an overpowering offense, but, enough to get the job done and let their D take care of the rest.
But, to get over the hump, I will need at least 3 players. One will not be enough with this current defense.
And of course all these players must be in their prime.
London Fletcher - MLB - I'll move Spoon to the WILL spot and pisa can retire for all I give a damn.
Aeneas Williams - FS - Enough said!
Monte Jackson - RCB - Oh and can I have his 1976 season :-)

Re: Who would you choose??
Since we're stretching it to 3 players, might as well make it 5.
And then I'd have to go with Nolan Cromwell for Chavous. Isaiah Robertson for Pisa. Isaac Bruce in his prime. Jackie Slater for Barron and Deacon Jones for whoever.
If I can only take one, I think Nolan Cromwell for Chavous would make the biggest difference.

Re: Who would you choose??
Let's see...
It has to be a combination of a great player and a position of need...
How about Kevin Greene as a SLB?
"Hacksaw" Reynolds at MLB?
Or, perhaps, Rich Saul at center?
I'm a huge Cromwell fan, but he was a FS, not a SS.
Oh, heck... just replace Alex Barron with Jackie Slater and call it a day!
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Who would you choose??
The Great Decon Jones to replace Little. Then as Avenger pointed out, Jackie Slater will move Barron aside. Aneas could line up at Safety with OJ and we're set

Dickerson. Definately. If not, Faulk. These two are my all time Ram favorites.
