Question Who would you like to see as Head Coach in 2009?

Poor Scott Linehan. We all know he won't be back in 2009 so I thought now would be a good time for thoughts of a replacement. I like Linehan...really. But he has shown that he just can't lead this team to the wins the city deserves. Don't worry for him though, he will easily land an offensive-coordinator job somewhere. The Rams should just let him go now before things get worse and promote a coach within as an interm for the rest of the season. Doesn't matter who really....because most if not all with be gone next year.

So....who would you like to see bring back the Rams to glory as Head Coach????

I voted for Cowher; at least he has a solid track record, and knows how to get his players prepared for Sunday. This team needs an attitude adjustment.

I also voted for Cowher, the "Chin" knows how to get players pumped up and ready for games.

Rams move back to LA in a sweet deal, including the proposed new stadium... Carroll jumps ship from USC in the wake of 5 year probation, including reduction of 5 scholarships each year and a post-season ban for the next 2 years for lack of institutional control.

    Yeah.. I'm diggin' it!

Simply put: NO! Cower is moving to St.Louis. His family is here in N.C. and they love it here word is he's waiting on the right opportunity in this area to coach again. So that means that Steve Spangnuolo is the next best choice...man I love his defense and blitz packages!

Re: Who would you like to see as Head Coach in 2009?

Well speaking as a fan that was just in the hunt for a new head coach last year(we got Mike Smith and I'm happy)......I will tell you who I absolutely wanted:

Steve Spagnuolo, Defensive Coordinator - NY Giants......the guy is absolutely BRILLIANT defensive coordinator and his defense will "run through walls" for this guy......"Spags" as he is called is a "fiery guy" like Billl Cowher and is defensive minded. More than anything, he gets "the most" out of the talent afforded him which is the sign of a good coach.

If I was the Rams, I would be looking for a younger guy who is ready for the role of head coach and who wants to work with a top notch personnel guy but not have total control - the dual role of GM/Head Coach rarely works and that is what "the chin"(Cowher) would want.......

Take it from me who studied the candidates already - Steve Spagnuolo would be a GREAT choice as NFL head coach and would bring the "fire" to St. Louis and would get this Rams team turned around......

Re: Who would you like to see as Head Coach in 2009?

I based my choice on "likely to happen". As fantastic as Coach Cowher is, there's no way he'd come from a superbowl team to a dud like ours.

I think Jim Fassell could be up for the challenge. That's what we need. A hard nosed, no nonsense, downright SOB to restore some sense of order and cohesion to this franchise.

Failing that, Spangnuolo is running one of the best defenses in the league right now, which operates on pressure- and personnel to generate that pressure. That's what we're missing on defense.

Re: Who would you like to see as Head Coach in 2009?

whilst like everyone else id love to have Cowher..id have to agree with Barbq..it just aint happening!
some good names on the list but some good ones that arent also..when Martz left i wanted them to interview Jim Schwartz for the gig,id like to see him get an interview, also Ron Meeks i think has done a decent job with the D in Indy...Spagnuolo would get my vote methinks, tho id like to know who he would have to run the O before pulling the trigger on that one.

all being said tho..if the "anyone but Linny or Haslett " option was there i would have ticked that box!

Re: Who would you like to see as Head Coach in 2009?

just to add..if we went down the road of getting in an interim HC with the view that should he impress in his 12 game trial (nothing is happening till after the Bills game,IMHO) then id pick Jim Fassel over the other candidates that are available for that sort of gig!

    Let's take a poll.

Who here thinks *Beam me up Scotty* will get hired by any team, other than a chain mover, or the guy who paints the field.?

Hired as a offensive coach? Surely you jest.

The most he can hope for is a clapping penguin, or a drunk one.

Re: Who would you like to see as Head Coach in 2009?

I want who has a proven track record as a head coach, and a desire to win. So I say either Marty or Bill Cowher. None of them were fired for having bad teams. Marty had a dispute with the GM and Cowher retired on top.

I voted for The Chin but can't see it happening. Schottenheimer would be a good call, but it may be time to get a hungry youngster in... Spagnuolo fits the bill nicely, for reasons outlined by our Falcon friend.
