Who would you like to see as the Rams' Head Coach in 2008?

The first of many such polls, I'm sure.

Bill Cowher would be great, I think he is bored as hell. The guys a coach, a players coach. The Rams need to get off their butt and give this guy a ring.

I'm still on the Linehan bandwagon.

If I had to chose with a gun at my head........Vince Lomardi's ghost.

Re: Who would you like to see as the Rams' Head Coach in 2008?

    Okay, I'll play the game.

I'm still on the "wait until we have a healthy team to evaluate Linehan" bandwagon. So, I think the prudent thing to do is keep Linehan one more year. But IF the mindless idiots that are called Ram's management decide to make a change, I'd NOT hire an NFL retread, and I would NOT hire Bill Cowher. Although he had some successful years at Pittsburgh, he did little with a lot on many occasions, IMHO. Anybody remember Kordell Stewart, aka; "slash"? I can just see the message boards lighting up here in ol' Rams Nation if that were happening to our Rams. Some Ram fans fuss because it took Linehan a couple of games to bench Bulger this year. Hell, it took Cowher years to figure out what everyone else knew. K. Stewart wasn't an NFL QB. How many games (seasons?) did he squander with that knucklehead, stubborn decision? Instead of S.L.O.P., we'll start (the) C.H.I.N.???? ...the "Cowher Has (no) Idea Nation"

So, IF the Rams decide to go elsewhere, and start the rebuilding process all over again, I say do it with someone out of the college ranks. No, NOT that puke from USC, Pete Carroll. He had his shot in the NFL and failed. Perhaps someone like Urban Meyer? Fresh mind, lots of energy, pretty damn good coach too.

Unfortunately, we would probably be only 10 games into the first season before someone would create the "Clan Hates Urban Meyer Party", or C.H.U.M.P.

That maybe true RFRH, but amazingly enough Cowher's Steelers still managed to win a bunch of games with that poor excuse of a QB. You see that's the difference between a Cowher and someone else (say perhaps...er... well..Scott Linehan for instance), Cowher has showed the ability to win even without an optimal talent playing the most vital position. Then Cowher wins a SB with a rookie at QB. Think of what he could do with M. Bulger and the rest of this underachieving group. If he's available I think it behooves the Rams to look him up. What have we got to lose besides more football games and eventually our sanity. Well, maybe not to that extreme, but you get the idea.

    WHAT SAY YE?

What would he do with "this underachieving group"? It's not an underachieving group, but a severly injured and undermanned group. Linehan's working with not just a "poor excuse for a QB", but a backup RB, three WR's at less than full strength, three starting O-linemen out, one starting CB and only one healthy safety. Vince Lombardi couldn't win with this group. Why is this so hard for some to understand? This is not your average slew of injuries and bad breaks that most every NFL team has to contend with.

To put a reverse spin on things, I believe that Linehan (or many other NFL head Coaches) would have done well, and perhaps better, with the Steelers and Stewart because they had enough good personnel around him, and as I said before, they wouldn't have wasted as much time trying to prove to the world that Kordell was the guy, and perhaps the Steelers win 2 or 3 SB's. I just don't understand how a coach like Cowher can make an obviously bad coaching decision, in fact, one that was so blatantly stupid, and yet some think he could make this team, in it's current state, a winner.

    Hmmm...

At this point, the poll would seem to indicate that it is the Linehan supporters, rather than SLOP, that qualify as the "vocal minority."
