To whom does Kurt Warner belong?
Which team, the Rams or the Cardinals, can claim Kurt Warner as primarily "their player"?
Its a close question. Kurt enjoyed great success on both teams, and is viewed by both franchises as one of (if not the) best QBs ever to put on their uniform.
So... let's go to the tail of the tape.
CATEGORY---------RAMS---------CARDINALS
Games Played--------53--------------62
Starts---------------50--------------57
Wins (in starts)------35--------------27
Completion %-------66.4------------65.1
Yards Passing-----14,447----------15,843
Touchdowns--------102-------------100
Interceptions--------65--------------59
Passer Rating-------97.2------------91.9
So, overall, while it is close, Kurt had better numbers as a Ram.
Add in that he went to more Pro Bowls (3 to 1), was on more 1st Team All-Pro lists (2 to 0), went to more Super Bowls (2 to 1) and won his only championship with the Rams, and I view Kurt Warner as a Ram, first and foremost.
That said, these numbers show just one more way that Kurt Warner was a unique player in NFL history. He is the only QB in the history of the game to throw for 100 or more TDs for two different teams in a career. He is also one of only two QBs to ever start a Super Bowl for two different teams (the other being Craig Morton).
So, maybe, in the end, much like the Arizona and St. Louis share the name "Cardinals" in their history, they can also share Kurt Warner as a member of their respective lists of all-time greats.
Kurt, of course, probably wouldn't have it any other way.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: To whom does Kurt Warner belong?
Maybe I am blinded by my blue and gold colored glasses, but I feel that the general public sentiment when someone hears the name Kurt Warner is that of images of the GSOT and the RAMS. He did great things in the desert, but will always be a Ram first and formost.

Re: To whom does Kurt Warner belong?
I've seen Kurt been asked this question and he answers with the Cardinals because, for the moment, his ex-coaches and ex-teammates are still playing/coaching for the Cardinals and this can't be said for the Rams. I'm guessing down the line he'll see it as more 50-50. Personally, though, I see him as a Ram because of the Superbowl win and the historically successful offense.

Re: To whom does Kurt Warner belong?
For me he will always be connected with the GSOT times....
But on the other hand we where the team that let him go
Instead of making sure we had the talent and schemes that would fit him and let him play to the level that he still had in him when he went to the Cardinals (after the Giants also failed to see what he still had left in him if playing in the right setup).

Re: To whom does Kurt Warner belong?
Of course everyone in here, being a Rams fan is going to say "He's a Ram". Who here is going to say "Cardinals"? Go to the Cardinal site and see what they think...
But in the end, it's up to Kurt, isn't it? Maybe he'll say "Giants". LOL.
Another interesting stat for Kurt.... since we're talking about his stats.
Kurt is also the only QB in the history of the Superbowl to throw a pick-six in two different SB's on two different teams.
BTW, Kurt is still one of my all-time favorite Rams. His story is what dreams are made of.Faithful Rams fan since 1968

Re: To whom does Kurt Warner belong?
The RAMS gave him his chance to play and showcase his talents. So, I go with the RAMS!

Re: To whom does Kurt Warner belong?
Agreed. He started with the Rams, made his name with the Rams, was a 2-time MVP with the Rams, won a Super Bowl with the Rams, and as others have mentioned, he was the trigger man in a legendary offense he will forever be associated with, the GSOT. IMO, given the choice, Warner belongs to the Rams, and history will emphasize that.
Disclaimer: Kurt Warner is my all-time favorite Ram.

He rented videos from me at Dierbergs. Therefore, he's a Ram.
