Why did Fisher not challenge the 3 TDs missed by the refs?

First was the touchdown to Gibson, that the replays made it appear he got his toes in, and the other two were where replays clearly showed Jackson was not down and the ball crossed the plane of the goal line. Why were none of these challenged? In the end, it didn't matter, but in a game this close it very well could have. Was he not allowed to challenge those 3 plays or did he just choose not to?

He could have challenged both plays but choose not too. The only reason I think he didn't challenge them is because it was early in the game and he didn't want to risk losing timeouts and challenges for later in the game.

If you go to the Rams website and watch Fisher presser after the game he will tell you why he did not challenge SJ TD run.

The Gibson non-TD wouldn't have been a good challenge. It was ruled incomplete, I personally didn't see strong evidence to overturn it. It was close, though; a nice throw by Bradford and a nice effort from Gibson.

The Jackson non-TD, well I suppose we need to go to Rams site.

I wanted a challenge for Gibsons first TD which i thought he got in after seeing the replays, not sure if it was enough to overturn but i still wanted a challenge.

These 3 non-challenges are the only thing that upset me with Fisher today. It really seemed like Gibson's catch was a Td while watching the review.

I was having trouble with my Directv Sunday Ticket (AGAIN) and did not see the Gibson TD or the fumble return for a Skins TD... They aren't showing them on ESPN or NFL Network... Unless I missed a spot. All the highlights are the same on all the networks. I'm just glad we won. Whew.

Yeah that should've been two more TD's for you guys. The run I can see the refs not turning it over for lack of clear evidence, but the Gibson one was clearly a touchdown.

The funniest part is that when Fisher did throw the red flag it technically was for a play he wasn't allowed to challenge.

Yeah that's because the ref's sucked tho. Officials set it up for play and Skins were about to hike it. What else could he do? Run onto the field and waving his hands telling RGIII not to hike it yet? Boy, I would've gone through the roof if they ended up penalizing Fisher for throwing the challenge.

As Koi said, what was Fisher to do? The ref's clearly didn't know the rules, and were proceeding with it as if it were a turnover. If Fisher waits and does nothing, what then? He HAD to throw the flag.

I felt that the Gibson catch was not clear enough to overturn, but the Jackson TD was so blatantly bad, as the ball was clearly way over the line and he was not yet down. I can understand these replacement ref's missing the occaional holding call, or missing a block in the back, etc.... But to not know the rules is ridiculous and it's going to cost someone a game. It nearly did yesterday. I felt like the Rams had to beat the Skins AND the refs to win. Well, and at times, themselves. They handed the Skins 7 points on the first play from scrimmage.

I see the ref's waiting to be told what to do by the one real official with the head set on. It's like they don't want to make a call and that makes it worse. They are easily influenced by the coaches and the plays or so it seems.

I agree they need to know the rules!

Re: Why did Fisher not challenge the 3 TDs missed by the refs?

I thought Gibson was out.....first foot down on the white. The way the game was going early, coaches probably needed 10 challenges.

Generally, the booth calls down and says whether to challenge or not and I guess they didn't think it was worth the risk. On the SJ run, I couldn't tell when or if they even blew the whistle.

At least the 2nd half was somewhat better if only due to the fact that the 1st half was an abomination, but that has to be one of the very worst officiated games I have ever seen. You have the absolute best football players in the world and you need to pair them with the best officials in the world too.
