I felt that the Gibson catch was not clear enough to overturn, but the Jackson TD was so blatantly bad, as the ball was clearly way over the line and he was not yet down. I can understand these replacement ref's missing the occaional holding call, or missing a block in the back, etc.... But to not know the rules is ridiculous and it's going to cost someone a game. It nearly did yesterday. I felt like the Rams had to beat the Skins AND the refs to win. Well, and at times, themselves. They handed the Skins 7 points on the first play from scrimmage.
He HAD to throw the flag ? Why not just call a timeout & argue his case ? I also think the D-Rich first down run merited at least a timeout if not a challenge. Give the zebs & your booth guys a chance to both look at the spot & more time to think about whether you go for it on 4th & a foot at mid-field. You need to remember that the booth official is under orders to look for ANY mistakes by the hack zebs, not just the usual controversial ones. Fisher needed to know the rules about what is challenge-able & that the review is a lot more time-consuming than usual. The potential reward in both cases was huge & well worth a burned timeout, imo.

I don't know what the percentages are of getting a called play overturned with the "real" nfl refs. I do know that with the replacement refs it's like flipping a coin. Heads or Tails?

And not to mention the pressure the refs have from both Fisher and Shannahan being on the rules committee.
With all the gravitas of Jackie Treehorn.

Re: Why did Fisher not challenge the 3 TDs missed by the refs?

Maybe someone can help me, but I don't understand Fisher's reasoning for not challenging the Jax TD. He said Jax broke the plane, but since he saw it late, he sent out the FG team and told then to take a delay of game to give him more time and an opportunity to challenge it. He then said the penalty made a challenge a waste of time because the TD would not negate the penalty, so he went ahead and just kicked the FG. But....if the play was ruled a TD, wouldn't the penalty be assessed on the KO, not negating the TD? Am I missing something?

Here is the video where Fisher explains it (near the end):
