Angry Why does Martz NEVER learn?

Once again the inexplicable play calling of "The Genius" has cost us at least 3 pts. and maybe the whole damn season. 1st and goal from the Jet's 7 and what does Martz call? Jackson to the right? NO. Jackson to the left? Nope. Jackson up the middle perhaps? NAH. He once again decides to go for "style points" by attempting a slot receiver reverse for 3 yard loss and two passes, one which is intercepted. All you Martz supporters out there, yes, he's installed a helluva offensive system, the numbers bear this out. But "The Genius" also has a record of boneheaded, nonsensical play calls like this that just boogle the mind and makes one wonder if there is a mental disconnect somewhere. Peace

Yeah Dez we are, but you know where I'm coming from. Don't tell me we shouldn't be up by at least seven or quite possibly 11 if "the Genius" would've at least attempted to give the ball to Jackson a time or two. Peace

I gotta go with Skynyrd on this one, Dez. We need to establish S. Jackson on the ground instead of trying to trick everyone. Bruce to Holt pass, anyone?

Re: Why does Martz NEVER learn?

We won and I am happy, but we are lucky that there weren't more picks. Bulger was forcing the ball and I am happy that he only threw 1 pick and 1 tipped for a pick, and that the defense was able to keep us in the game.

Martz does like to throw in the trick plays at the weirdest times and he avoids the running game, even when our D is on the field all the time. I am surprised the defense was able to continue playing well through the OT period. They were on the field a long time.

I was shocked we didnt pound Jackson for the 1st down. I was so mad when we didnt run on that play. But later on another 3rd and short we passed and converted. I personally would rather run Jackson on most 3rd and 2s. But it worked out and we won. Go Rams. :ramlogo:

you can't argue with the results, but the guy drive you crazy sometimes.

this was a typical Martz' gameplan- 39 passes, 19 rushes. typical 2 to 1 ratio. i would prefer a more balanced gameplan week in and week out, but you just never know what Martz is going to do ( although you can pretty much guess it's going to be passing ).

the man just hates to run the ball sometimes. sometimes I think he would wish the NFL would get rid of the RB position and just go with an all passing game.

the man must help sell alot of Rogaine though, because he makes you want to pull your hair out.

Re: Why does Martz NEVER learn?

Pesonally I think was the closest we have seen to the good old days in awhile. I did not mind Martz game plan that much. He made them respect the run and buried them with the pass. I am not a big fan of Martz but he did good today. The Jets are a great team and we beat them I think that shows alot. Our defence was great against the pass today I noticed they actually got pressure it was great. Plus I did not see bad clock management today has the sky opened up for the Rams?

Maybe that's what he wants his opposition to feel on Sundays. One week, 44 runs. The next week, 10. How exactly do you prepare a defense for an offense that's very polar like that? Maybe through his inconsistency, Martz is trying to make his opposition's job harder.

    Nick-

you don't need to be unpredictable in your gameplan to win.

everyone in the league knows what Pittsburg is going to do every week. alot of running and no more than 25 passes a game and look at the results.

you can't argue with 14 wins in a row ( with a different QB and RB none the less ).

my point is, the other team can know exactly what the gameplan is and you can still beat them. you don't have to go Mike Martz crazy every game to keep the other team "guessing".

Re: Why does Martz NEVER learn?

The thing is, Martz just seems to do the opposite of what he should be doing. He passed when he should've been running on the Cardinals. But this week he did the smart thing and passed against one of the league's stronger run defenses.

It worked and we won. It's playoff time.

Anybody have a really weird feeling about this? Maybe I'm just too hopeful.

Re: Why does Martz NEVER learn?

All Martz does is take this team to the playoffs. Some of you think we have the best "talent" and should win every game. That simply isn't true. We may have the best receiver corp and the best QB in the NFC but that alone dosen't win games. Cry all you want about Martz, but I'll take a coach that takes the Rams to the playoffs just about every year everyday.

MIKE MARTZ IS THE BEST THING EVER TO HAPPEN TO THE ST. LOUIS RAMS.

EVER. NO ONE ELSE IS EVEN CLOSE.

    PERIOD.
