Why hasn't Romberg started all year?
With his play last week against the Dolphins it makes me wonder if he rubbed the coaching staff the wrong way in training camp because i do not believe for a second that Nick( i GOT CUT FROM THE CARDINALS NOW START FOR THE RAMS) Leckey beat him out over summer.
Romberg has a better pedigree being from Miami and has showed he can play in the NFL when healthy.
Re: Why hasn't Romberg started all year?
IIRC, Romberg WAS penciled in as the starter until he injured his hand/wrist.
(Took his own sweet time healing though:D)
Re: Why hasn't Romberg started all year?
He was to be the starter, broke his hand, so Leckey was the starter. When Brett's hand had healed, Leckey had not allowed but one sack so they left him in. It wasn't until Leckey broke his foot that Brett got his job back.
According to Brett in an email I got today "Glad to be back on the field, feels good to get back in the swing of things."
I am finally sending out all of Brett's figures tomorrow.
Re: Why hasn't Romberg started all year?
Something tells me Romberg could of beaten Leckey for the starting spot single handedly...literally...when he was injured with the broken hand, but I guess he felt bad that Leckey had seen no action in a long time and decided to give him a chance. Either way, i would put one-handed Romberg over two-handed Leckey any given Sunday of the year.
Re: Why hasn't Romberg started all year?
Good one, Bruce. I've always thought (this season anyway) that Romberg ought to be our starting C. He earned it last year. // Also made sense to me that, that way, Leckey would be an additional body at G, much needed BTW. Some were considering Cog at center as well but, again, we need bodies at guard and putting Romberg in the middle would spare both Richie and Nick.
Too bad Bret injured his hand early on. I think he's a good, starting center. // Still, our OL needs some major improvement. :ram:
Re: Why hasn't Romberg started all year?
I'm just happy that Romberg got the position back. Atleast he knows what he is doing when he is playing rather than Leckey. He was the worst center in the NFL...

Didn't Leckey only allow two sacks this season? Not terrible from a sack point of view.
