Why yesterdays game wasnt bad
Dont start the countdown for a top 5 pick just yet Preseason is about evaluating players in the framework of our offense and defense... Our offense looked better than last year Steven Jackson looked good. Im not worried about the pass pro because our offense is going to be Sj39 pounding and Bradford throwing short yardage to move the chains. No more 5-7 step drop backs in the new system. Marshall Faulk yesterday said that we will have a top 5 defense in the NFL. Our game is going to be SJ39 and Defense... We drove the ball downfield on offense and couldn't score but our team has also been in training camp for a week.
Steven Jackson 17 yards on 4 Carries
Wide Recievers can actually beat one on one coverage
Bradford didnt get Killed
Lance Kendricks started looking like the guy we drafted in the 2nd round
Isiah Pead looked scared and couldnt make people miss
Robert Quinn was noticeably affecting the game
DT's are monsters no more 36 year old Fred Robbins
Forced a 3 and out
Janoris Jenkins almost made a great play to get a interception.
Craig Dahl was horrible.
The first play of the game.
D-Line let Andrew Luck break out of the pocket
Coverage was just bad but it is only weak 1 of the preaseason
Re: Why yesterdays game wasnt bad
Not to be negative but:
1) There is a reason Marshall Faulk isn't a coach, poor guy got laughed at for that comment.
2) If we played a very vanilla D, then so did the Colts. Don't get excited about beating their CB's on their vanilla coverage.
3) Kendricks had a monster pre-season last year as well, didn't turn out so good in the regular season.
4) Bradford didn't get killed because he didn't play a lot; RT and LG are liabilities, and he got hit plenty of times on short 5 yard routes.
Once again, thats just the reality. Hopefully guys can pick up their play, Fisher can correct mistakes, and create a masterful gameplan that will eventually end with us hoisting the Lombardi, but for now, we got work to do.
