Will the Rams win 7+ games? I'm betting on it.
I recently returned from a trip to Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, via Sin City.
At the Mandalay Bay Sports Book, I placed an "over" bet on the Rams 2012 win total. The line was 6 1/2 (with odds - a $20 bet would return $46).
So... do I really think the Rams will win 7?
Well, I think they certainly can. I think this team has more talent and a better coaching staff than the one that won 7 in 2010.
So I've put my money where my mouth is. I'm sure you're all hoping I win!
(Footnote: Though I only placed the one bet, I was tempted to bet the "under" on the Redskins, who also had a line of 6 1/2 wins.)
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

I was thinking we would win no less then six, so seven is very doable. I hope you can cash out after week seven

This year we will have two favorite teams the Rams and the team the skins are playing. Looking at their schedule I noticed they don't play any other teams in the west except us, that makes it a perfect storm!

I think 7 wins is very, very doable. 7 wins is doable every season no matter what kind of team you put on the field. The gameplan, effort, and werewithal to win have to be there.
The talent is here, if you ask me. So long as our receiving corps can generate enough of a problem for opposing defensive coordinators and their gameplans, the offense should be above average at the least. They're the biggest question, if you ask me. If we can run a balanced offense, and not go down in games early, a decent season in year 1 with the fish is very plausible.

Re: Will the Rams win 7+ games? I'm betting on it.
This is the classic heart vs. head debate. In my heart, I think the Rams have the capability of winning 7 games and being competitive in most of their 16 games this year. My head says, however, there's a lot that must fall into place to have this happen- Bradford must bounce back, SJ must be the SJ we've seen over the years, the newly acquired free agents must gel, the receivers must step up, the draft picks must produce and we must stay healthy.
I wouldn't put money on it myself, but i sure hope you win your bet.

Right now I would bet a $100 on it, just because I love my Rams. The only pro we have is an easy schedule. I have to tell you though 7 Wins, looks kind of hard, with a new coaching staff, less depth, and a new offense. However, if there is a team that can do it, it's us. I feel it is possible because we can see it as improving on '10 and not the fluke '11 season. However, ***** and Hawks have toughened up. So, lets see, I am expecting 5-6 wins. However, I those can easily see that go up, if I see the Rams play well the first few games and come out of the gate well.

Re: Will the Rams win 7+ games? I'm betting on it.
I believe the Rams are capable of winning 7 plus games. But I have a feeling fans of the other 31 teams feel the same way about their team. While we should be improved and the defense is looking like it can be a good one, the fact is, the offense is in the same position it was this time last year. Full of unproven receivers and a questionable line.
Sure, we can say we improved the line with Scott Wells. And we can say Quick, Givens and Peade give us an added dimension we didn't have. But the same things were being said last year at this time. We thought we had a guy in Kendricks who can be a mismatch trying to defend. We though Dahl gave us that edge we needed on the line. We though Pettis and Salas were going to give Bradford solid hands to throw too. In reality, the rookies weren't ready and the line needed much more help.
To sum it up, while its very possible Fisher can turn it around in a hurry, its also possible this team is still a ways to go. Especially on offense. Saffold regressed and there are some who question whether or not he really is a left tackle. J. Smith has all kinds of question marks. We don't have much depth on the line, especially at guard.
I hope we can see a big turnaround this year, but we've all been through it time and time again over the past few years. Hope turns to despair. I'm not from Missouri, but you gotta show me before I jump in.

i would take that bet. our defense is going to be good and keep us in games. with bradford and SJax would never count us out offensively. that is of course if 7 wins gets the cash. This team can easily go 7-9.

Of course I would love to see a 7 or better win season. But based on what we've seen year after year, and all the IF's, I just don't see it.
Yes, we've improved, but I think all the teams in the NFCW have too.
Circumstances would have to all align for this team to win 7 games.Last edited by RAMFANRAIDERHATER; -06-22-2012 at 02:40 PM.

I don't think I agree with that statement.
I'm still not sold on Alex Smith so, while I think the Niners are going to be viewed as the favorite in the division, I'm not completely sold on them.
The Hawks face a potential QB controversy and O line issues, and I don't think they made any truly significant offseason moves.
The Cardinals also have a potential QB controversy, and have 5 defensive starters who are in their 30s.
I'm not spending the money, but I feel good about my bet.

All things considered, 2012 Rams are willing, ready (okay, work-in-progress), and hungry enough.

Can do / Will do!
