    Winston Moss Interview

Hey guys, here's an article I found about the interview with Winston Moss.

By Tom Silverstein of the Journal Sentinel

Green Bay Packers linebackers/assistant head coach Winston Moss became the first candidate to interview for the St. Louis Rams' head coaching position.

Moss interviewed Saturday with Rams general manager Billy Devaney in St. Louis less than a week after the Rams asked for and received permission from the Packers to speak with Moss. The Rams made neither Moss nor Devaney available to reporters for comment.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy helped Moss prepare for his interview last week. He promoted Moss to assistant head coach after the 2006 season because he thought he had head coaching potential and wanted to help him advance his career.

Moss, 43, has had some oversight duties with the Packers, but McCarthy hasn't specified what they are. Moss stands to be a candidate for the Packers' defensive coordinator job if McCarthy chooses to fire Bob Sanders, but it all depends on what happens with the Rams.

The list of candidates the Rams are interviewing doesn't include any big names, and Moss probably has as good a chance as anybody.

The Rams are expected to interview former Packers and current Dallas receivers coach Ray Sherman this week. Also in line for interviews are Baltimore defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, Minnesota defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier and Miami assistant head coach Todd Bowles.

Tennessee defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is also being considered for an interview. Interim coach Jim Haslett remains in the mix.

Well the last paragraph, that mentions Rex Ryan (play offs), Leslie Frazier (play offs), Todd Bowles (play offs).

Jim Schwartz's team is also in the play offs.

Once these teams finish the season, I would expect interviews to be lined up. As of now, my top candidates are...

    Rex Ryan
    Jim Schwarts
    The Spags.

Any of these three and I will be extremely pleased.

Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

lets all hope that Miami beat Baltimore tonight..the last thing we want is all the good candidates goin deep into the play-offs with their current teams!

devaney has said that he wants someone in place before the 3rd week of january, which would put coaches involved in the NFC & AFC championship games out of the picture.

looking at good DC`s in the NFL..one name that hasnt been mentioned that i think should..is Mike Trgovac. he`s been the Panthers DC since 2002 and tho the Panthers have consistently lost good players...e.g. Kris Jenkins,Witherspoon,Morgan,Rucker etc..he still has consistently put out good units...he specialises in D-linemen..he has been able to switch the light on in Damione-Lewis,which is no mean feat. but the fact that theres been a decent line of LB`s come through..(the latest being Jon Beason..) shouldnt be sniffed at either!
also theres some good Panthers players due to hit F.A. e.g. Gross & Gamble that may be swayed to join us if he was at the helm.

There must be some reason why this guy hasn't been given much attention league wide, but that's the kind of unconventional thinking that I think the Rams should try. If nothing else, why not pay him big bucks to come be our defensive coordinator? If I could figure out how to give rep, I'd give you some. Nice post.

Click on the small graphic that looks like a scale near the top right hand corner of the post. It's between the post # and the report post button that looks like a street sign. A pop-up window should open where you can agree (positive rep) or disagree (negative rep) and write a short sentence why.

    .
I would think these guys warrant consideration:

Ryan - Ravens. That Defense has been good for a long time.

Jim Schwartz - Titans - My question would be how much does HC Fisher control that Defense - or is it all Schwartz?

Spags from the Giants - Probably will go to another team as HC.

    Crazy List
    ----------
    Leslie Fraizer
What did Frazier do before this year as a Coordinator? I don't think the Vikings had a real good Defense before this year. In fact, in 2007 the Vikings Defense was DEAD LAST in the NFL in Pass Defense - that's 32nd out of 32 teams.

    Moss
    --------
His team won a paltry 6 wins and he hasn't even been a coordinator. He's a LB coach from GB media reports.

    Ray Sherman
    ---------
Has had two Off Coord stints and each ended after one year as he resigned before being fired or demoted. His unit woefully underperformed this year.

I think there are other good candidates out there.
