Which is worse?

I don't know if you have heard, but in the first half of the first preseason game, some "fans" have already declared another 3-13 season. So, just for fun, I want to know:

Which is worse? First pre-season game doomsayers, or whiner fans who live in thier mommy's basement and say "we got five rings"?

I like preseason so i can get to see some of the rookies, but i always forget about the doomsayers. Please people remember :

NO SEASON IS EVER WON OR LOST ON THE FIRST HALF OF THE FIRST PRESEASON GAME.

Team GB didn't win a medal on the first day of the olympics, so i may as well stop watching the games now right??

First preseason game doomsayers

The pre-season doomsayers drive me nuts. I know I don't post a lot on here, but I read a helluvalot of posts, and since I joined here in June of '05, the pessimistic approach is the same every single pre-season.

Well, for me, it is polls.

I've yet to find a poll that is any worse than the next.

Alright, I dislike the 'the sky is falling the season is over' crowd as much as everyone else (overreaction) - but I also do not understand the need for some people to attack anyone that expresses *any* negative sentiments whatsoever.

Let's face it, we looked terrible out there. 1st stringers - terrible, 2nd stringers terrible, 3rd stringers - terrible. We gave up almost 500 total yards and outside of a few nice plays by Berlin and Looker (Berlin especially looked sort of efficient out there actually), our offense didn't do squat. I know preseason doesn't count and we should ignore the stats yada yada, it's just that this team looks a whole lot like last year's team did in preseason and we know how that went. The whole 'ignore everything about preseason we'll turn it on when it counts' mentality has some merit, but you can't just ignore *everything* about preseason either. And we haven't been able to 'turn it on when it counts' for quite a while, when we prove we're good enough to do that I'll start completely ignoring preseason.

We didn't have our starters on the field much? Yeah, so did the Titans, for the most part it was our 1st against their 1st, our 2nd against their 2nd etc. and we lost the vast majority of those matchups.

Let's not overreact and say the season is over but let's not underreact and say that this means absolutely nothing. A ****ty practice or a ****ty preseason game isn't the end of the world, but it's not something that should just be completely ignored either - remember the old 'how you practice is how you play', that goes for preseason too, since all it is is practice. The bad news is we got our butts kicked all night long, the good news is we may still be able to fix a lot of it. But let's try to have an honest assessment and leave both the rose-colored glasses and the 'sky is falling' metaphors behind this time.

The bottom line is that alot of the 2nd and 3rd stringers are playing for a job in the NFL. Results like last night can't be helping those guys.

Awesome post,I was also told the quote "how you practice is how you play the game" in high school and it makes alot of sense,you are right about the world not coming to an end,but you can't be happy with last night, we are not coming off a Super Bowl and therefore the coaches can just "fix it", this is a bad team trying to get better and they are off to a not so good start.
