Re: Would this guy look good in blue and gold?

I will agree that if the choice was Fitzgerald, or a premium lineman, I'd take the lineman. Because I also agree that great teams are built from the inside out. In other words, a good foundation is a good line. Great skill players don't mean squat if you can't block or tackle.

But I'm also one Ram fan that believe Bruce and Holt are both on the downside of their careers. It's time to start looking at replacements. Maybe not next year, but for the following year and beyond. ...and when we do go shopping, I'd like to see bigger, taller receivers.

But if there's any money available, this guy would be fantastic lined up with Holt, Bruce or Bennett.

    Faithful Rams fan since 1968

Whenever Bruce starts to lose a step, in 2-3 years from now maybe, Bennett was brought in to take his place as the #2 reciever. Hagans, Looker, or Hall can easily slide in to the #3 reciever spot. Considering our needs in the secondary and on the O-line I don't see us having enough cash to spend on another WR. Jackson contract new contract is going to take nearly every spare penny we have, so I don't see us having the money to be able to sign Fitz. If there were no salary cap like in MLB then of course I'd want us to go after him.

Personally I'd rather go after someone like Gibril wilson or Quentin Jammer.

I would love to see him. Probably won't happen though. I get the feeling Bruce and Holt only have a couple more years. Bruce due to age and Holt due to wear and tear and the draw of being in the booth instead of being hit.

It's going to be hard for him to do better here if Bulger is constantly on his back.

Fitz is a flashy signing but not one that we need. We need offensive line and defensive help before we spend mega-bucks on skill position players.

The only way I could see this happening is if Torry Holt for some reason retired at the end of the season or had a career ending injury. Fitzgerald is going to expect to be the top option wherever he goes, and frankly we couldn't afford him unless he was going to be the no. 1 receiver on the team.

Judging by how we spent our $$ this past offseason with pressing needs on the defensive side of the ball, I wouldn't be all that surprised if we wind up with Fitzgerald.

Re: Would this guy look good in blue and gold?

Would I take him, oh hells yes, but will he play Corner? We already have three perfectly good wideouts and good depth behind them. There are much more pressing needs when we can get a pretty good burner in the 2nd round this year and then after a few years he can start for us after being tutored by Bruce, Holt and Bennett. He'll be 4 years younger than Fitz too!

Re: Would this guy look good in blue and gold?

If Pace was 4-5 years younger, I'd have a hard time saying no. But again, we need to focus primarily on the offensive line (because that is the only way we're going to win ball games), and then focus on the Defense. The O-line isn't too far away from being good, so I'd focus on being able to score first on offense. Once we can establish that we have a steady line (along with adequate backups), we can focus all on defense (SS would be great, D-line is still an issue.)

Re: Would this guy look good in blue and gold?

Should he become available and expressed interest in joining the Rams, we'd be foolish not to pursue every avenue to get him.

In a Ram uniform he'd be just as good as Torry Holt is currently, with his banged up and aging knees.

By next year he would be no less than a 1a option in our offense. That would make Bennet or Bruce expendable. Of all the Rams, Ike is the one I'd hate to see go the most, but we're not talking about a 28 year old Isaac Bruce.

Maybe a tweak here or there (safety), but I believe we have the players to be good enough on defense, it's the schemes and play calling that have to improve. Maybe we could get somebody to film the opposing teams from the sideline to gain an edge.

    Oh, It's on the Cards.

Rumor has it Marshall Faulk actually retired after he refused to switch to Tight End, and the only reason interrim head coach Joe Vit isn't head coach of the Rams at the moment is because he refused to carry more than 2 TEs on the Roster.
