Would you do this deal for vilma?

would you trade the 13 for vilma and the 25? I dont know the cap implications, but curious about the value percpetions. I think of vilma as a front line linebacker, and at 25 i think we could get a guy that would still help us, although obviously not what we would get at 13.

Put another way, what would you rather have, alan branch/carriker at 13 or vilma and maybe charles johnson (or another end) at 25? I know thats a lot of speculation, but curious what the group thinks.

ramming speed to all

Re: Would you do this deal for vilma?

I'd do it. Some will say Vilma is a product of a system, but I'd say he has led the Jets D under two different systems. Some will say Vilma is too small, but I'd say he's big enough to make plays, and I'm to the point that THAT is as big as I care about.

As we draw within a month of the draft, I'm begining to think our value picks will be gone by 13 anyway, so why not trade down.

I'll give up an Okoye (who I doubt will be there at 13) to get Vilma and a Charles Johnson or Justin Harrell or Anthony Spencer.

Re: Would you do this deal for vilma?

As Country pointed out, the Jets would likely not go through with that trade as it would value Vilma as a mid second rounder.

Re: Would you do this deal for vilma?

I would make that trade in a heartbeat if I'm the Rams, but I'd be asking for more than the 13th if I'm the Jets.

Re: Would you do this deal for vilma?

I think a straight-up trade with our first pick for Vilma would be more realistic in terms of value (perhaps a little too good a trade for the Jets though, but closer). Perhaps a good yet realistic trade would be our first for Vilma and the Jets' second rounder? I'd do that, Vilma would be a great linebacker to have, in fact I'd probably rather have him than Briggs. Another point is that I could easily see a situation with our #13 where all the top talent is gone, including the top-2 DT's, so our choice of players at the positions where our need is greatest wouldn't match the value of our pick. So that's all the more reason to pull the trigger on a Vilma trade if we could get it done.

Re: Would you do this deal for vilma?

I would gladly trade for Vilma and Jets' second rounder (37th pick). Okoye and Branch will be gone until 13th pick and we'll, however, trade down. Only, why would Jets do something like that? They got three nice picks in first two rounds. They don't need to trade Vilma.

Re: Would you do this deal for vilma?

I'd take Vilma. I want us to win right now. So if he would help, take him and let's see if anyone good is left in the later rounds, it's not like Kennedy or Lewis have been anygood up to this point.

Re: Would you do this deal for vilma?

I'm in the "sure, but I don't see the Jets going for it" camp. If this trade went through, we'd likely have the chance to add two impact players to the defense, but I don't see the incentive for them.
