I wouldnt trade holt for ray lewis. ray is on the downside, banged up. Obviously, still a force of nature, but for how long? Holt has about 4 peak years ahead of him if he doesnt get unlucky injury wise.

But my comment included these two fine players Ed Reed, chris mccallister and Lewis as a "throw in" if we were to trade the value of Holt we would need at least three decent players

Those three would makke me consider a Holt trade at the very least.

The problem being the salary cap. Even if both parties agreed to the trade, we would have to get rid of probably half a dozen guys just to make room for the new salaries. In this day and age, there are very few trades that are economically feasible.

when you start trading your good players away that the start of the end you need to improve your bad players or replace them thats how the team gets better It never works how many good free agents never work out or play as good as they did for their old team. Traded players can be the same look what happened when we traded dickerson how many good players did we get out of that trade and what happened to the team afterwards.

Peppers has zero sacks this year, so I would have to say no chance. Even if he had 20 sacks I still say no.

The issue with comparing the dickerson trade (or the herschel walker deal, the john hadl deal etc), which is a legitimate discussion point, is that those trades were made in the pre cap era. There is a limit to the degree to which you can "restock" due to the amount of money the picks are going to get paid, especially the high picks. Still, if you can trading a veteran at a high cap number, especially if aging a bit, to rebuild your team or at least start the process, it makes sense, but it is very tough to do in the nfl.

Re: Would you trade torry holt for....

We need to go back in time and bring back some of these former Rams DBs:
Nightrain Lane, Ed Meador, Dave Elmendorf, Rod Perry, Pat Thomas, LeRoy Irvin, Nolan Cromwell, Monte Jackson, Jerry Gray

You could make an argument that these players wouldn't be fast enough for today's NFL, but if we can figure out a way to go back in time, we can probably figure out a way to make them faster.

In the mean time, why aren't the Rams mining the Arena League or CFL for DBs?

Sorry ...but IMO ....Holt is like a sacred indian burial ground in Ramland. In my book he's non-tradable and thats non-negotiable. Find yer shut down corner some other way. Maybe draft a promising young kid or two and bring'em along ......but ya'll can take Holt off this squad over my cold, dead golden horns!

    It happens .....sometimes!
