Wow. Did he really say this?
Seahawks.Com
Q: How satisfied are you with your defense right now?
Martz: “I’m disappointed in our defense right now. Not the coaches, certainly, I think Larry (Marmie) is the best and I know he’s the best. I’m disappointed in our guys not getting off blocks and making plays like we were earlier. That’s what we need to do. There is nothing magical about defense, it's attitude. You get off blocks and get to the ball carrier in a bad mood.”

God, I hope not. I thought I remember him criticizing Marmie for not getting the job done in another article though.

Re: Wow. Did he really say this?
Being that this is from a Seahawk source, I am not going to spend time thinking about it since I don't know if it is true.

Re: Wow. Did he really say this?
this is exactly where Martz will eventually fall.... blaming players and not the coaching staff (his buddies) who are ultimately responsible.
Very sad.

Re: Wow. Did he really say this?
I think martz tends to spend a lot of time stnding up for his players, often to his detriment. Either way he does it, he will get chastised by those who wish to bring him down anyway, regardless of what he does.

Re: Wow. Did he really say this?
While I don't understand his motive for saying this, I certainly don't expect him to say..."Man, Marmie really sucks....it was a tremendous error on my part hiring him."

Re: Wow. Did he really say this?
I'd rather that Martz light a fire under the players than under the coordinator.

Oh God...we're doomed!...certainly, I think Larry (Marmie) is the best and I know he’s the best.
I hope that will do it.

This is what I don't get. What the Sam Hill is he SUPPOSED to say?
"Yea, Marmie sucks. I screwed up when I hired him."

Re: Wow. Did he really say this?
I hear ya but it seems he is painting himself into a corner by calling the guy the best of the best. How does he bring someone new in next year saying there is no one better?

Actually , Finger pointing ain't gonna get it no matter who's to blame! These are pro atheletes who should be motivated by the chance they have to play in the best sport of all! And not to mention the money. From what I see this defense is pathetic. The players make it happen....That's the bottomline... This ain't Pop Warner!

Re: Wow. Did he really say this?
I think the train of thought is that he just shouldn't have said anything along the lines of what he said. Better to not say anything than to say something that could come back to bite you. In this situation, I think that point - one that I think Mok and Ferter have made in the past - is a very fair and valid one.
