WR is an issue--sad to admit...

...but admit it we must.

As much as I like Bruce and Holt, not having a deep threat is killing this team. Having 2 guys that run great routes and have great hands does not cut it in this league. Bruce and Holt have aged gracefully, however a home run threat is needed to be able to capitalize on Holt's skills. Yes you guessed it...I am saying good bye to my favorite Ram. Having the 2 aging vets just won't work. Youth and speed for next year at the second wideout spot. Bruce will have to go, Bennett stays where he is at as a third option.

So you want us to let him go and retire with another team!?. look I know this is a business but you have to respect future HOF players and don't forget what they have did for your organization and this league

How about drafting a burner that can learn form Bruce and Holt. Use him in the 4 and 5 sets.

Re: WR is an issue--sad to admit...

I almost agree with you.

The Rams need to draft a fast, deep threat, WR. If the Rams can address the O line in FA, I'd go as high as a second round pick to fill this need.

Doing so will be the beginning of the end for Bruce, but I'd give Ike one more year. Truth is, very few rookie WRs take the league by storm. Most don't hit their stride until their second or third year. I'd like to see a rookie come in as the 3rd/4th WR for a year, and learn under Holt and Bruce. Then, when he's ready (hopefully by 2009) to take on a starting role (or at least a key #3 WR role), Bruce should be ready to move on.

Re: WR is an issue--sad to admit...

I am bud. But I learned a long time ago (actually a couple years ago) that thinking without your head and not your heart in football is much more productive. We need something to take the heat off and both Holt and Bruce can be covered one on one with a safety over the top, with no threat deep teams can key on this and slows our offense too much.

Re: WR is an issue--sad to admit...

Look at Calvin Johnson... has he dominated this year? No. Unless we pick up a free agent, which I think would require Bruce to retire or be cut(boo), then we're still a year or two from having a dominating deep threat.

That said, I've thought ever since we let Curtis go that we needed to pick up a deep threat, and unfortunately, we just didn't this year.

Re: WR is an issue--sad to admit...

How does this have anything to do with a win or a loss?? It is an observation and something I think is holding this team back right now. The line isn't the only issue I think. Last time I checked we were allowed to have opinions and to make observations. It doesn't always have to be about a win or a loss. I all for making this team better. Are you?

Re: WR is an issue--sad to admit...

I agree, I've been saying it for a while. We need a speedy WR to stretch the field, Curtis was that guy, but we got rid of him for Bennett and Bennett is the type of receiver we already have, we needed the deep threat with killer speed. Now we have to look to the draft for filling that need, I would love to find a guy in the 3rd like Curtis so we don't have to spend a 2nd, but we may have to use a 2nd when it comes down to it even though I dislike it. I would look for a speedy WR to come in initially as our 3rd man on the depth chart and still keep Bruce as #2 at least in the beginning of the season and see how things progress from there. Ike's still got a little football left in him.

We just gave Bennett a hugh deal. He is not going to sit behind a rookie. Does anyine know if Bennett is run full speed yet?

Re: WR is an issue--sad to admit...

Nothing wrong in looking to the future, and we do need speed at the position, I would question whether the time to supplant Bruce is now, but we need speed at that the third spot with Bruce moving down in time.

first off RAMSWRAITH , lets not forget torry is closing in on a 1,000 yds recieving having a season not to far behind league leaders 2nd you just can't go throwing away players that maid this team what is was a still could be not only are Bruce & holt HOF bound but they are good teacher to develope any of the deep threats that may come in sooner or later
