Wroten Suspended For A Year

Rams defensive tackle Claude Wroten, a player with first-round potential who slid to round three in 2006 because of an on-again, off-again relationship with that Mexican girl named Mary Jane, now has an on-again, off-again relationship with the NFL.

For the next 12 months, it’s off-again.

The Rams have announced that Wroten has been suspended for one year due to a violation of the substance-abuse policy. He’ll be eligible to apply for reinstatement after the suspension ends. In the interim, he must comply with any applicable treatment plan and pass all drug tests administered by the NFL.

The former LSU standout was suspended for four games in 2007.

Wroten appeared in 15 games as a rookie and 11 in his second NFL season. He has zero career starts.

although I didn't think he was going to make a hugh impact anyways, this is still no way to start camp. I sure hope his days as a Ram are done for good.

So much for all that offseason work put in by Claude Wroten. The Rams' defensive tackle has been suspended for the entire 2008 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Wroten earned praise for staying in St. Louis during almost the entire offseason, working out and working on his game. Wroten himself said that he wanted to eliminate the perception that he was a draft bust in 2006. But on Wednesday, the NFL announced that Wroten was out for the year. According to the league, Wroten cannot be reinstated by the league any sooner than May 30, 2009.

Wroten was suspended for the first four games of the 2007 campaign for an earlier violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy, and his stock dropped in the '06 draft because of marijuana-related issues in college at Louisiana State.

Team sources said one reason Wroten was around Rams Park so much in the offseason is that team officials insisted he stay in St. Louis in order to avoid trouble back home in Louisiana. Apparently, Wroten found trouble anyway, leaving the Rams thin on the defensive interior.

I bet he never plays for the Rams again. At least now we know why he was hanging around rams park so much during the offseason-he was looking to score some high grade weed from Fahkir.

Like I've been saying since they drafted himi- what a waste of a draft pick. This fat loser has used up his chances and hasn't done a thing to warrant getting another one. Cut his fat azz loose already...

I believe someone posted an article on here a few weeks back about how he had changed his attitude, work ethic, and was ready for a breakout season. I said I heard that same blabber every year with Jimmy Kennedy and I wouldn't believe it until I saw it. I guess he was like Kennedy after all, but instead of donuts, this fool's problem was drugs. They both showed ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in their time and both garnered talk about potential, which I'm not sure what they did to even warrant potential talk...

I'll bet you're right. He was given every opportunity to get his you know what together and he never came close. This has got to be the final nail in the coffin for a complete waste of an individual. Good riddence.

That 2006 draft will set this franchise back 10 years, they could have had a 5 yr old make the 3rd round picks and they could not have been any worse.

Whoever decided to let Linny make those picks when he had not ever done this before at any level is so mind boggling and typical Rams.

There is no way the Rams would be worse off had they gone in another direction before that 2006 season. Now that they have everyone but Linny making decisions in the FO and the field maybe they have a chance bit with the lack of talen from the 2006 and 2007 drafts that will be very difficult
