Your UFA Wants for this Offseason
Which UFA(s) do you want the Rams to pick up this offseason?
My List:
#1. Nnamdi Asomugha, CB, Oakland
#2. Albert Haynesworth, DT, Tennessee (He will re-sign)
#3. Bart Scott, OLB, Baltimore
#4. T.J Houshmenzadeh, WR, Cincinnati
#5. Jeff Saturday, C, Colts (#5 because of age)Last edited by Milan; -11-13-2008 at 07:21 PM.

Re: Your UFA Wants for this Offseason
If we don't atleast try to sign all of them, I'll be unbelievably angry and it'll just show the lack of commitment to getting rid of the bad players that not only plague the team's inablility to do anything on any given Sunday but they also bring down the good players. That needs to end this off season. Getting any of those free agents would be a big contribution for us. Haynesworth is obviously going to be resigned but that'd be amazing. I think Asomugha is someone we really need to dish out the big bucks for. Bart Scott is another player we need to get immediately. Saturday would more than likely start and he'd be a great veteran to have in the locker room. He's been around a lot of success and will eventually be a solid backup to a future center. Houshmenzadeh would make up for Drew Bennett...I hate even saying his name...

Re: Your UFA Wants for this Offseason
unrealistic to think the rams will even get one of those guys accept maybe Saturday. I thought Saturday resigned, but I could be completely wrong. I would rather have Matt Birk anyways
Here's my list
Channing Crowder, MLB, Dolphins
OJ Otogwe, FS, Rams
Atari Bigby, SS, Packers
Ron Bartell, CB, Rams
J.J. Arrington, RB, Cardinals
C.J. Mosely, DT, Jets
Restricted Free Agent
Victor Adenyanju, DE, Rams
Derek Stanley, WR, Rams
Channing Crowder and Bigby being the attractive names on my list. I don't think we are attractive enough to land a huge name like Dansby or Scott and we can't afford to send piles of money to one guy with as many holes as we do. Crowder is younger than Scott and Dansby and at 252 punds adds some beaf to the middle of the D to help stop the run. Spoon goes outside and gives us a pretty good LB core. Bigby is a hard hitting safety and also can cover the TE's well. Another guy who can add physicality. Mosely is a good DT to rotate in and replace glover in the rotation. Arrington can be a 3rd down guy and team up with Pittman to form a good comitee replacement for S-Jax incase he goes down.

Re: Your UFA Wants for this Offseason
I think a lot of it depends on what kind of scheme they plan to run. Getting top names is nice, but you need a system and to fit players to the system. A guy like Asomugha may fit any system, but the Raiders will almost certainly franchise him again.
The team is at a low point. Now is the time to blow it up and install a system. That doesn't mean that you spend 3 years rebuilding. Look at the Dolphins, they are competitive NOW. A guy like CJ Mosley might fit a 4-3 or 4-3/3-4 hybrid, but if you are going 3-4 he is too light to play NT and he's probably not athletic enough for DE. Same thing goes for who you keep. The LB's are small for a 3-4, if they choose to go that way. I like Crowder too. Same thing goes for the O.

Re: Your UFA Wants for this Offseason
Since the Raiders released Hall, I'm thinking they're going to try to keep Asomugha.
I want to sign Birk, which would boost our pass protection way up, and along with drafting a tackle, our o-line will be loads better. Plug Greco in somewhere on the right side too.
I want to get Bigby, because Chavous is OLD and SLOW.
Crowder should be a target who we should be pursuing.
I'm not very interested in Arrington, I would rather draft a speedy rookie.

The two I think we have a chance with this offseason is Birk. Leckey is a bigger joke than knock knock.
I like Bigby also. Might be the body we need playing SS.

Re: Your UFA Wants for this Offseason
I'd rather have Mr. Birk as well, but I doubt that he'll come to the Rams since he's never won a superbowl. Most guys at this stage of their career want to go to a contender.
But what about Lito Sheppard...did we forget about him, now we may actually get him because I think Mr. Asomugha is going to be franchised.
Man I love Bigby he's excellent in run coverage and will make a hit that will leave you saying "ohhhhh weeee', but he's a liability in pass coverage. I'm not interested in Arrington either, we need a speed back to compliment both Jackson and this poorus line.
Oh and let me say it again...Lito Sheppard, but he'll probally go to the patriots for dirt cheap to win a ring.Last edited by ManofGod; -11-14-2008 at 02:25 AM.

Re: Your UFA Wants for this Offseason
Before the Free agent signings -
1. Replace Shaw
2. Replace Zygmunt / throat slasher sidekick
3. Replace Haslett ( possibly)
4. cut our losses with high paid low to no production players
5. What direction do the Rams want to go in the next 10 years
6. Free agent signings

Re: Your UFA Wants for this Offseason
Maineram, all good points, but I like #5 the best, the direction of the team,it seems there hasn't been one for quite some time now but before they start signing anybody they do need to get that direction you mentioned,I know it will be tough with the situation as it stands(F.O.,pending sale, high price low production players, etc),I think it's very important they don't look for the quick fix but rather a good long term plan as you stated.

Re: Your UFA Wants for this Offseason
Those tackles and everyone in that secondary (Philips and Robinson injury anomalies) are going to command huge dollars or get franchised. Those guards may be interesting both huge, but both their lines have been giving up alot of sacks. Those D-line men will make top dollar at their position especially Peppers and Haynesworth who may end up being the highest payed players at their position.
Brown and Watson are 2 extremely intriguing names. I like Brown as a starting center and Watson as a run stuffer to throw into situations. Crowell, Robinson, and Phillips are 3 guys who can play well when healthy and we might be able to steal them because others are scared of their injuries. 3 of the 4 ravens LB's are Free agents I think Scott will be the one to leave, if its here i'm not so sure. Crowder is my favorite Free agent this offseason like i have said before.

Re: Your UFA Wants for this Offseason
I guess I could have written up a list of names of 2nd stringers that will go on clearance, but it just didn't seem appealing or worthwhile.
It takes money to make money. And while I'm certainly not advocating a foolish high dollar approach to free agency, I must admit the flea market approach hasn't exactly paid dividends either.
Surely, we've seen enough Sehorns and Claibornes at this point, no?"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod
