Zac Stacy Closes In On 1000 Yards

After only 10 starts, Stacy has 854 yards, with a 4.2 yard average, and 6 TD's. Barring injury, he should get to 1000, needing 146 yards in the last two games.

I said it before, and I'll say it again, it looks like we have our franchise back.

With a solid stable of depth. Cunningham and Richardson are not complete players but are usuful pieces. For years we relied squarely on SJ39 to carry the load now we have a young corp studs at the RB position.

Definitely have found our franchise RB. However, next season is the real test, consistency.

Staying healthy enough to play, like this year. He's been beat to hell, but just keeps bouncing back with huge games. IMO, that's encouraging. The guy is tough as nails.

Like Ray Rice, he has that small, compact frame that must make him a nightmare to try to tackle. The thing that amazes me is that for such a small guy he always seems to fall forward at the end of his runs and get an extra yard or two. He really has been a godsend this year; can't wait to see what he can do with an improved line and a good QB like Sam handing off to him.

Yes indeed. It will be very exciting to see the Rams build -- hopefully -- a solid running game with mighty Zman in front. As some have already mentioned in previous posts, I too look forward to a healthy, consistent and achieving Zac Stacy next year. For now, 1,000 yards would be sweet.

Our OL ought to be excited too!

In addition to his RB potential, SZ seems to have a fine character and presence. Really like this young man!

    i thought 5'8" and 190 was big

but adding like 30 pounds to that is even more deadly, he's like a dense freight train

For his height, he is a ball of muscle. His height-weight combo is deadly; just watch how he rarely falls down when he is "tackled". The majority of the time multiple defenders gang tackle him but he just stands there and keeps his leg moving until the refs blow the whistle. Great running back. I just hope he doesn't have durability issues after carrying the load this year.

Re: Zac Stacy Closes In On 1000 Yards

The game against the Saints on Sunday was evidence that Stacy is no ordinary back. Gets a hip injury, which is obviously quite problamatic for a running back, then comes back in the game and on his first drive back in hurdles a defender and picks up 29 yards (or something like that) on one run.

The power and short yardage is impressive, but he can kill you if you let him out in the open.

And one thing no one is talking about(for good reason) is he currently has 0 fumbles.

This is key. SJ was such an impressive possession back, and hanging on to the rock is the first job of any great back. 1000 yards would be a huge milestone for ZS.

A defeated look of consternation, dissappointment, or even pain. The name derives from the look one often gets when challenged by a large BM.

His emergence has been huge. What looked like a pathetic situation early in the year has turned out nicely for the Rams, and it's a big reason why we've won a few without Bradford. It's a tribute to Stacy, and also a big plus for the Rams, who don't have to prioritize getting a top running back early in the draft.

Re: Zac Stacy Closes In On 1000 Yards

The interesting thing is the Rams did not just take him in the 5th. They made the statement how much they liked what they saw by giving up two picks and moving up late in the draft to get him.

It really has not be a good season on so many levels but Stacy has been such a bright spot for this team moving forward. One of the biggest question-marks going in has been answered.
