Blue on Blue uniforms tonight
YES!! I been waiting for this!
Punt coverage team faces test in Hester
By Jim Thomas
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
Monday, Dec. 11 2006
With the notable exception of Nate Burleson's 90-yard touchdown return for
Seattle four weeks ago, it has been a pretty good year for the Rams' punt
coverage team.
But that unit will receive perhaps its sternest test of the season tonight in
the form of Chicago Bears return man Devin Hester. The rookie from Miami leads
the NFL in punt returns with a 14.2-yard average. He has returned three punts
for TDs this season and also scored on a 108-yard return of a missed field goal
against the New York Giants on Nov. 12, the same day as Burleson's return
against the Rams.
"I think Dante Hall's a little shiftier," Rams special teamer Jamal Brooks
said. "Quicker and shiftier. You've seen Dante Hall kind of shake up a whole
team.
"But I'm not taking anything away from (Hester). This guy is straight-ahead
fast, and he gets in a hole very quickly. You better get to him before he gets
to you. So it's about getting to your spots and not chasing the same color
(jersey)."
Veteran punter Matt Turk of the Rams says Hester's return style reminds him of
Deion Sanders.
"He's dangerous. He's a weapon. And obviously we have to be on the top of our
game to contain him," Turk said.
Rams long snapper Chris Massey sees speed plus attitude in Hester.
"When I watch him, he's hungry," Massey said. "He's a rookie coming out, trying
to make a name for himself. And he's going to give it his all on every play and
try to make something happen."
Even if that play is a missed field goal.
"We can't relax on that," Massey said. "We've got the offensive linemen geared
up for some coverages if we have the opportunity for a long field goal."
If the thought of linemen chasing Hester seems disturbing, Rams fans can take
solace in the fact that kicker Jeff Wilkins has made 12 consecutive field-goal
attempts.
He hasn't missed since the fourth quarter of the Detroit game Oct. 1.
The Bears invested a second-round draft pick on Hester, and with four TDs on
just 42 "touches" this season — not including fair catches — he has been worth
the investment. Meanwhile, the Rams' hoped-for answer as a return man in the
2006 draft, fifth-rounder Marques Hagans, has spent the entire season on the
practice squad.
Hester also has returned six kickoffs this season, including three last week
against Minnesota, but his season average is a modest 21 yards.
Kacyvenski sits again
After linebacker Isaiah Kacyvenski suffered two concussions over a three-game
stretch in November, the last thing the Rams want to do is rush him back into
action. So although Kacyvenski is feeling much better, he will sit out
tonight's game.
"They're trying to be careful because they don't want me to come back too early
and have anything happen again," he said.
Remembering Jack Snow
The Rams will pay tribute to the late Jack Snow, who died last January, in a
halftime ceremony tonight.
A longtime Rams radio analyst, Snow played wide receiver for the Rams from
1965-75 and ranks among the team's career leaders in receptions and reception
yards.
In ring-of-honor fashion, his name will be unveiled underneath the broadcast
level of the Edward Jones Dome.
Blue on blue
The Rams are expected to wear blue pants and blue jerseys tonight.

Re: Blue on Blue uniforms tonight
As long as the Bears are black & blue after this game, I don't care what colors the Rams wear.
GO RAMS

Re: Blue on Blue uniforms tonight
If they would just get rid of that stripe, the blue on blue would look good.
