Throwback uniforms are a “go” for St. Louis Rams in ‘09

DANA POINT, CALIF. _ As they checked out of the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort for the drive home to Los Angeles, owners Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez confirmed that the Rams will wear throwback uniforms in three games during the 2009 season.

The exact three throwback games haven’t been determined, but Rosenbloom and Rodriguez said one of them probably will be the Rams’ home opener at the Edward Jones Dome. Another probably will be a road game at Tennessee where the Titans will wear their throwbacks from their old Houston Oilers days.

The Rams received permission last year from the National Football League to wear the throwback uniforms in 2009. The uniforms will be replicas of the Rams’ 1999 Super Bowl championship squad.

5) Having worn the original version of what is now a "Throwback" jersey.

The Rams put in the request to wear throw back uni's last year at the beginning of the season. They wanted to honor the late owner at a home game with the throwbacks. The league said no, they must have the request in a year in advance, so they kept that request in. It was announced sometime late last season that they were granted permission to wear throwbacks this year, and the uni's had to be what they had originally requested which were the Blue and gold. They are locked into wearing just those blue and gold for five years, before they can change the request to wear another era uni's like the white and blue. This info was posted towards the end of last year.

I knew we wanted to wear them last year, but the NFL wouldn't let us because you gotta put in a year in advance. I like that we decided to stick with it.

I have a chance of being able to attend the Titans game. Of course I wouldn't care what we wore if I actually got to go, but I would love to be at a game and see those throwbacks!

A "throwback"...ALL THE WAY back to '99?? Wow. It would be cool to see the white and blue again, pass on the forgettable ugliness of the last unis. Its great they won the big one in them...but theyre still fugly. Theyre just too bright for a pro football team.

Have you seen the Dolphins Alternate Home Orange Jersey? The rams 99 throwback has nothing on that in terms of Brightness. The rams 1999 jersey is the best IMO. The history with that jersey is awesome. I think that we should wear it twice during the regular season and if we reach that superbowl we could pull out the 99 alternate on our Oponent. Good idea?

LOLso throwback now is the 1999 uniforms?I was thinking the blue/white is more of a throwback.the 99 are the yellow/blue? in 00 is that when we went to the current set-up?

we got our current Uniforms after the 1999 season. then in 03 we cut out the gold stripe on the jersey. Blue and yellow is the Throwback that we are going to be wearing.

I love the old school unis, better than those crying irish/***ers, hideous looking ones we have, the jersey is not too bad, but those ugly millenium gold pants have to go!!
