2005 HOF Semi-finalists

The semi-finalists have been announced and the two names drawing most of the attention are Marino & Young. However, there are two WRs that made the list: Michael Irvin & Art Monk. Now, don't get me wrong, they were both great receivers....but here's my question.

Michael Irvin - 750 rec., 11904 yards, 65 TDs, 5 pro bowls
Art Monk - 940 rec., 12721 yards, 68 TDs, 3 pro bowls
Henry Ellard - 814 rec., 13777 yards, 65 TDs, 3 pro bowls

How in the world does Ellard not make the semis while Irvin and Monk do?

Re: 2005 HOF Semi-finalists

Unfortunately, Ellard played on a lot of mediocre to bad teams, and never played in a Super Bowl. While that shouldn't matter, it does.

As AV stated, no rings sometimes means no HOF.

Case in Point: Lynn Swann and John Stallworth have rings, but not the stats.
