9ers change at QB
I'm kind of shocked they have made a change. I'm not a big fans of Smith but the guy was playing perfect ball for a team with a defense like that. 70% completion percentage. 104 RAT, 13 TD 5 INTs. They looked like the Ravens that won the SB.
Now they are changing to a rookie QB why?
I hope this comes back to bite them big time. Did they just lock up Smith long term?
This the kind of move if it blows up on them can cause a head coach to lose his team.

Re: 9ers change at QB
He may have been trying to draw some competitive fire out of Smith and didn't get what he wanted so he made the change. Smith seems very laid back and passive about everything. Of course I don't follow the team so I could be wrong but that's the way he comes off to me.
Worst part is that this change is bad for the Rams. Smith could run but Kaepernick seems more willing to take off and against this soft coverage we've been playing it's gonna hurt. He burnt us good in the first meeting and now he's had a few weeks to get used to being the starter... could be a long day.

Re: 9ers change at QB
FWIW, Kaepernick is not a rookie, he's a second year player.
Let's hope the Rams are the team that make Harbaugh look foolish for his knee-jerk coaching move.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: 9ers change at QB
listening to the talk shows here in Sf area......I think this will come back to haunt the Whiners. I hope we take Colin out to the wood shed Sunday and at some time they need to bring smith in to try to fix it....the small crack that Harbaugh created will turn into a fault !! (please!)

Re: 9ers change at QB
I'm honestly not that surprised. Kaepernick was drafted by Harbaugh last year; Smith is a hangover player who up until Harbaugh came to town hasn't produced much in tough circumstances. It's not that shocking to me that any opportunity for Kaepernick to perform well and take the mantle would be jumped upon; if Kaepernick can keep it up, the ***** may opt to not pay Smith his March roster bonus and dump his contract. Coaches generally want their guys.

Re: 9ers change at QB
Alex Smith being vocal about not being the starter... love it. Glad to see he's not saying all the right things.

Re: 9ers change at QB
If colin was that good why didnt he take the reigns sooner? Its not like he is a rookie that just got a chance. When they started the season he wasn't good enough to start so why is he now? Has alex regressed after the injury?

9ers change at QB
Sjrules, think Kurt Warner, not comparing them as players, but, we didn't realise what we had on the roster either. I think he looks better than smith.
The Breakfast Club. You want cheese with that?

Re: 9ers change at QB
LOL Kaepernick lost this game straight up. 9er defense only allowed 3 points in regulation.. Colin's safety+fumble/backwards pass was 10 on the board. Alex Smith would not have made those 4 crucial mistakes that cost them the game:
- Run 20 yards behind LOS in their own endzone for no reason (safety)
- Pitch the ball 4 feet above Ginn's head (recovered for a TD)
- Audible from a run to a pass play on 1st down after the 50 yard run (incomplete.. stopped the clock inside 2 minutes)
- Run out of bounds on 3rd down before the FG (again stopped the clock leaving plenty of time and timeouts left)
And better yet Harbaugh said he played "very well" and "clutch" and that he will be the starter next week as well.. lol. 9ers have a legitimate shot at the Superbowl and their trying to develop this guy midseason.. Look at his QBR ratings for each of his starts 100.. 90.. 80.. seeing a trend there?Last edited by Mr. Gepetto; -12-03-2012 at 06:36 AM.
