Re: Archuleta
Welcome but to be honest. They overrate him. He is a horrible tackler and horrible in coverage. He gets about 1 INT each year for a TD or something but can't tackle at all. If Gregg Williams can do any good for him he will be a superstar but he is stuck in mud.

Re: Archuleta
You should expect missed tackles, blown coverages and bad hands. But if he's put in the Blitz, you should expect sacks.

Re: Archuleta
I'll be a bit easier than the previous two guys. He's a great SS when used correctly. He's only average in coverage, but he is a great blitzer and great in run support. He missed a fair share of tackles last season, but was also one of the Rams leading tacklers despite missing three (I believe it was three) games. Marmie really hurt Archuleta in the way he used him. Arch will be a playmaker there in Washington next to Sean Taylor and he'll be a force near the line.
As good as he is though, he wasnt worth the price. The Roman and The Prince. Playmakers until the end.

Re: Archuleta
welcome skinsfan,
he had some great games with us especially before the injuries took their toll and with arch he aint one of them players who wont play if he aint 100% fit, arch will play when he`s 20% fit, with hindsight he may have learnt his lesson as it hurt him physically but probably more important to him it hurt his reputation!
im guessing it will depend on how gregg williams intends to use him as to how much of a contribution he`ll make with the skins-his upside when fit is his blitzing and occassional big play ability his downside is his coverage skills and injury issues(mainly back problems and concussions!)
in his first couple of years with the rams he was a star on our D but when the injuries started to take their toll on him and the quality of db`s around him declined or departed he started to fade into a shadow of his former self,i think the skins payed the big money for his former glories rather than the player he is today!Last edited by Drew4EverRams; -04-06-2006 at 10:21 PM.

Re: Archuleta
Gregg Williams is smart enough to find a way to maximize Archuleta's production and ability in that defense, and it will certainly help to surround him with talent. It'll be up to Adam to step up, improve his own game, and hopefully stay healthy enough to remain on the field and help make an impact in Washington.

Re: Archuleta
I am going to echo what most of my fellows have said with one exception. Arch does bring the ability to lay the lumber on a guy. He has (or had yet to be seen) the abilty to turn the mo of a game with the huge hit. One year against Baltimore hit lit Todd Heap up like a christmas tree and I think Heap still feels that hit.
One thing to remember about Arch is he was a LB in college and switched to safety and played under Lovie Smith who used him in run support and as a blitzer. My point is he covers like a college LB, not and NFL safety. IMO he is a mid level SS who has big problems catching, taking correct angles on long runs, and covering receivers.
With that said, he was my favorite Ram for a few years and I will certainly miss him.
Great luck to you guys and to the Arch
Skins are all right

Does this answer your question?
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Archuleta
I agree that he was overpaid, but maybe not overrated. Adam suffered set backs as a Ram. He suffered injuries and tried to play through them, and Marmie didn't utilized him very well by changing his position trying to fix holes in the D. If he is healed almost 100% (I believe no football player doesn't have some kind of nagging pain), utilized correctly, and his confidence returns, I feel he could be and outsanding player.
