Lions: Garcia ready to battle for job
The News
Jeff Garcia spoke to reporters at his annual charity golf tournament over the weekend about the Lions' quarterback situation. "It's Joey Harrington's job to lose," Garcia told the Gilroy Dispatch. "But I'm going to be right there nipping on his heels." When asked what would happen if he got the chance to start, Garcia replied: "I don't plan on giving it back."
Our View
Garcia is expected to push Harrington for the job in training camp and during the preseason, and given his relationship with head coach Steve Mariucci, it will be interesting to see how much leeway Harrington will be afforded as the incumbent. The safe guess is that Harrington will retain the gig, but it's worth keeping an eye on during the summer.

Chargers: Rookie linemen sign on
The News
The Chargers signed rookie offensive linemen, tackle Wesley Britt and guard Wes Sims, to three-year contracts, according to the team's official website. Britt was a fifth-round pick out of Alabama and Sims was a sixth-round selection from Oklahoma.
Our View
Last year, San Diego got away with very little depth on the offensive line, so it's nice to see that they addressed that weakness in the draft, especially since we've got LaDainian Tomlinson topping virtually every cheat sheet. The Chargers selected three linemen in the draft, and all three have already signed.

Falcons: Vick has MRI on shoulder
The News
Michael Vick underwent an MRI on his left shoulder on Wednesday. The Falcons' new medical staff ordered the test so that they could get an update on Vick's recovery from an injury suffered last season against the Panthers, head coach Jim Mora told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The MRI did not reveal any damage and Vick was given a clean bill of health.
Our View
This news refutes a report in this week's Sports Illustrated that Vick had the test because of soreness in his shoulder. It's something to keep an eye on during training camp, but it appears Vick is fine.

Our View
The Bengals claimed Craig Krenzel off of waivers on June 20, and that acquisition made Haldi expendable
