Bears acquire DE Adams from Bucs

    Per rotoworld:

Bears acquired DE Gaines Adams from the Buccaneers in exchange for what is believed to be a 2010 second-round draft pick.
While the Bucs appear to be mailing in the season by dealing off their most gifted pass rusher and nearing insertion of their underclassman rookie quarterback, Bears GM Jerry Angelo is in the talent acquisition business. Trading first-day picks is rarely advised, but it's different when the return is a 26-year-old with dominating ability. Bucs defensive coordinator Jim Bates, who's clearly lost his touch, couldn't get enough out of Adams. It's a good be that Bears line coach Rod Marinelli can.

Seems like a pretty good deal for the Bears. It seems like Adams was coming into his own, but it was just a case of a bad player-coach relationship. This immediately bolsters the Bears D. Do they even have any draft picks next year now?

Adams has one sack and ten tackles this year. I dont see the value in him.

Adams was drafted to be an edge rusher in a Tampa 2-esque defense, and the Bucs are moving away from that scheme under the new coaching staff. Meanwhile, the Bears under Lovie Smith and new defensive line coach Rod Marinelli are probably going to be able to get much more out of Adams. Both are disciples of the Tampa 2 coaching tree, with Marinelli having spent a decade coaching the Bucs' D-lines in the past. This is a pretty solid move for both teams, though Bucs fans probably aren't happy about trading away arguably their best D-lineman.

Gaines Adam's was a terrible pick up for the Bears. I mean the guy got a 7 on his wonderlick test. He probably doesn't even understand what a trade is.

There are always exceptions to the rule. Want to see how happy the bucs are that they even got a 2nd round pick?

"TAMPA Now that he is gone, you hope only the best for Gaines Adams.
You hope he finds himself in Chicago. You hope, one day, he finally taps into his potential. You hope a change of scenery does him good.
Mostly, you hope the Bears realize there is a no-refund policy in the NFL."

Read the rest. It is quite entertaining.

we`ll see in time..Adams will have a lot better line to play alongside in Chicago so his athletic ability may be more of a plus than his deemed weak body strength in Tampa was an hindrance...
Tampa probably did right in letting him go for a 2nd round pick..but i think its too early to see if Chicago done wrong in spending a 2nd round pick to get him.

Sidenote: Now the Bears don't have a draft pick in the first 2 rounds....

The bears got ripped off. At most, he will be an under average linemen for he rest of the year. I guess their plan is to coach him up?
