Best left tackle in the NFL...

Finally an opinion from somebody with a credible opinion... Not my words, guys.

(good natured ribbing is all based on some punches we traded back before our last game)

Quote:
"I've played with Walter at the Pro Bowl, and he's certainly the No. 1 tackle in football," says Giants defensive end Michael Strahan.

Re: Best left tackle in the NFL...

I don't know how you really judge who is the best left tackle. But it sure seems that if you ask defensive ends, they seem to say Jones. Patrick Kerney said the same thing earlier this year. Pace is damn good himself though. They need to do a SI players polll on this.

Re: Best left tackle in the NFL...

Doesn't Strahan play mostly left end, which means he rarely even faces the left tackles. he probably never even lined up against Pace when we faced the g-men.

Re: Best left tackle in the NFL...

Being an O-lineman, I pay close attention to this stuff...

Strahan was working against Barron (and getting shut down by Barron during Barron's first start, mind you), for every play of the Giants game that I saw.

Don't know why he would ever face Jones though... as Jones is a left tackle as well. Perhaps the ends all watch film together or something though and he sees how good W. Jones is?

I think Jones is probably a better run blocker than Pace anyways, because I have seen Jones kill some people on run plays and (despite my awesome avatar), have always been underwhelmed by Pace's run blocking... though that could be a product of a bad system/bad other o-linemen.

Re: Best left tackle in the NFL...

I'm just poking a little fun at some of my buddies on this board that I've had this debate with in the past. Truth is that you can't go wrong with either one of them. It's kind of like having to pick between Selma Hayek and Carmen Electra.

Somehow regardless of which one you get, you're gonna be pretty happy.

Too bad the " so-called" best left tackle gave up 2 sacks today.

Bet you couldn't wait to get to your keyboard for that one, eh? That's like saying Peyton Manning sucks for throwing two interceptions. Everybody is entitled to a bad day.

By the way, those two sacks were his first in over two years. How many other tackles can say that?

Great analogy on the Selma Hayek/Carmen Electra deal. Wow, how can you lose? lol

Seriously, both the Seahawks and the Rams are very lucky to have Walter Jones and Orlando Pace respectively on their offensive line.

I'll tell you how you can lose.

Carmen Electra got on Dennis Rodman. Would you want any of that now?

I didn't think so. Bring on Selma!

Re: Best left tackle in the NFL...

Hey Large Ant what was the name of the guy who beat Jones yesterday? Usi or Osi something or other. HEHE

Just ribbin ya Ant, you know from our discussions before that I agree with you and your Selma Carmen analogy.

Re: Best left tackle in the NFL...

I'm anxious to see what Jones does against Dwight Freeney. Monday Night Countdown just reminded me how well Pace shut him down, and I know that's a guy who gives Ogden a lot of problems when they go at it.

Wow. Just saw this after a long while. Anyway, if you still want to prove it I'd love to see it. It's a pretty well known fact that he hadn't given up a sack in over two years so I think it'd be cool if you can prove otherwise.

Re: Best left tackle in the NFL...

The bottom line is, if the Rams had gone 13-3 and the Seahawks had gone 6-10, everyone would be talking about how Orlando Pace was the best LT in the league and how Walter Jones had an off year.
