ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP)—Perry Fewell wasted no time making changes on his first full day as the Bills interim coach, picking Ryan Fitzpatrick to be the starting quarterback.
The decision to go with Fitzpatrick over Trent Edwards was announced shortly after the team’s practice Wednesday as the Bills (3-6) prepare to play at Jacksonville (5-4) this weekend.
Fitzpatrick said he was excited about the opportunity, and indicated the starting job is his indefinitely. Fitzpatrick is 1-1 in two starts and also rallied the Bills to a 16-13 overtime win over the New York Jets on Oct. 18, after Edwards was knocked out of the game.
Fewell was promoted from defensive coordinator after Dick Jauron was fired Tuesday.
Re: Bills Fewell Goes With QB Fitzpatrick
This topic was discussed at great length on the NFL Talk radio (satelite radio) Rich Gannon without any hesitation at all (He has watched alot of film on Fitzpatrick & Trent Edwards) stated that Fitzpatrick is a back-up QB period. The Bills should continue with Edwards at the starting QB position.
