The Cards traded Anquan Boldin and a 5th round pick to the Ravens for the Ravens' 3rd and 4th round picks. The Ravens then signed him to a 4 year deal. How much of a step back will the Cardinals' passing offense, or offense in general, take next year also losing Warner?
i just saw this now and was gonna post the article...good deal for the Ravens (and the rest of us in the NFC west..)
Most likely a major one. The Cardinals were going to need all the help they could get with a shaky Leinart taking over, and this move certainly puts more pressure on those narrow shoulders. Things could get ugly in Arizona.Quote:

Imagine an offense if we drafted QB and TE in rounds 1 and 2 and got Bolden with our third rounder. That means the first three rounds of the draft would produce three likely starters:

TE-Rob Grankowski 6'6 265
RB-Jackson
FB-Karney
WR-Boldin
WR-L. Robinson w/backups of Avery, Gibson, Amendola, Burton
Good the cards lost Rolle, Boldin, and Dansby so far. Great news for us rams fans lol.
this really sounds like a steal for the Ravens and for only those 2 lower picks, I would have loved to have Boldin on the Rams, would have been a great player to have if the Rams are going QB with the 1st pick and yes I think the Cards offense will suffer without him and Warner.
Big blow to the Cardinals offense.

I would have given our 3rd + 4th rounders for Boldin. Those are much better picks. If not at least our 3rd, maybe a 5th or so.
Our third rounder is much higher than what the Ravens had to offer.
But, we never really get into all the heavy lifting in Free Agency. The Rams tread lightly and make small moves. I didn't even know we signed A.J. Feeley until more than a day or two after it happened. Meanwhile, I'm seeing Boldin sign, trades happening, Peppers gone...
One offseason, I would like to see the Rams make a move that makes me just go,
"Whoah! Did we REALLY just do that!"
Even if I don't think it's a great move, I would like to see our staff become a little more bold. Go after Antonio Bryant, chase down a player for a 3rd and 4th round pick that WILL be a starter and leader for this team. Do something, and make a cannonball splash. Stepping in puddles never won any rings.
I would have loved to have done this. But the question you have to ask yourself is, with all the teams wanting to trade for Boldin, why would they choose to trade within the division they play and play him twice a year? If they trade him to another conference they dont have to play against him nearly as often.
Guys, its not as simple as being willing to trade the same picks (or even slightly better picks). To make this deal, you had to be willing to pay Boldin money, something the rams are not willing to do in any kind of material way with the sale pending. Hard currency (ie cash) is something that teams are clinging onto right now, building their warchests for the upcoming lockout. In the case of the Rams, chip isnt going to lay out big money for a guy who is going to benefit new ownership, rather than him. THe Rams will spend as little money as they can, while still complying what are likely to be the ordinary course conduct of business covenants contained in the purchase agreement with Mr. Khan.
