    Braylon Edwards traded

Hey guys, Braylon just got traded to the Jets. I am not clear on the rules for posting links yet, but I found it on the homepage of nfl.com. What do you guys think, does this guarantee the Jets a playoff spot? WR is their only really weak spot on offense and they just adressed that. So what's on your minds?

    Re: Braylon Edwards traded

    from NFL.com

The Cleveland Browns traded wide receiver Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets early Wednesday morning for wide receiver Chansi Stuckey, third-year linebacker Jason Trusnik and two undisclosed draft picks.

In acquiring Edwards, a former first-round pick in 2005, the Jets receive a deep threat they had been lacking. Edwards will combine with Jerricho Cotchery to give rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez two proven playmakers as starting wide receivers.

    New York Jets

    Career Statistics
    Years: 5th
    Rec: 288
    Yards: 3,697
    TDs: 28

Edwards had been rumored to be on the trading block since the draft in April. Hes off to a slow start in 2009 - as are the rest of the 0-4 Browns -- with 10 receptions for 139 yards and no touchdowns. Last Sunday, he went without a catch for the first time in his career in a 23-20 home loss to Cincinnati. His best season came in 2007, his third in the NFL, when he caught 80 passes for 1,289 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The trade comes a day after the NFL is opened an investigation of whether Edwards violated the league's conduct policy following accusations he assaulted a man outside a nightclub in downtown Cleveland. Edwards allegedly punched promoter Edward Givens, a friend of NBA star LeBron James, early Monday morning following an argument.

Edwards has been involved in other off-field incidents. In March, he was partying with suspended Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth in Miami the night Stallworth later drove drunk and killed a pedestrian. Edwards was not with Stallworth at the time.

Last November, Edwards was fined $150 and given 30 hours of community service after he was found guilty of driving 120 mph.

It's the second major trade the Jets have made with the Browns and Eric Mangini, their former coach. On the first day of the draft in April, New York acquired the fifth overall pick from Cleveland to select Sanchez for its first-round pick, its second-rounder (No. 52), and defensive end Kenyon Coleman, safety Abram Elam and quarterback Brett Ratliff.

Stuckey, who won the No. 2 receiver spot opposite Cotchery out of training camp, has 11 catches for 120 yards and a touchdown. He was a seventh-round draft pick out of Clemson in 2007, but missed his first season with a foot injury. Stuckey had 32 receptions last season, catching three touchdown passes from Brett Favre.

Trusnik, signed as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio Northern in 2007, is a special teams ace and backup linebacker. He was selected as the AFC's special teams player of the week last week after forcing and recovering a fumble on a kickoff in the Jets' 24-17 win over Tennessee.

The Associated Press contributed to this story.

Not sure who is getting the best out of this deal yet. Really depends on if Edwards gets his act together or not.

what you gotta do is..copy and paste the article but make sure the source of the article gets a mention.

i dont think it gaurentess the Jets a play-off spot..they a good team who would probably have gone there with Stuckey anyway..

as with most things about diva wideouts..he gets a lot of hype attached to him that his talent level dont quite warrant.. but he`s in New Jersey playing for a New York team now so his media exposure is only gonna get bigger..which it seems to me matters most to these diva`s..

    Re: Braylon Edwards traded

Edwards has a lot of talent, but has done a poor job of using it on the field on a consistent basis. He is also someone who has demonstrated poor self control off the field.

I understand why the Jets would take a chance on him.

In case anyone is thinking "why didn't the Rams make a bid," I'd say... they're better off.

According to sportscenter it is a 3rd and 5th round picks. Although if edwards meets certain milestones the 3rd round pick becomes a second round pick.

oh...thought they might have gone a bit nuts but that sounds like a good sensible deal to strike now.

That's what happens when you mess with Lebron James in Cleveland. So if anyone from the Rams wants to get traded just start messing with Albert Pujols.
