Just came out on NFL Network:

Belichick fined $500,000
Patriots fined $250,000

If the Patriots make the playoffs this season they forfeit their 1st round draft pick for the 2008 draft.

If the Patriots don't make the playoffs this season they forfeit their 2nd and 3rd round draft picks for the 2008 draft.


Not harsh enough IMHO. Belichick should have also been suspended..say 4 games at least.

not really that harsh, we know 1 they are gonna make the playoffs and i think you are forgetting they have their #1 next year and the ***** #1 next year. So if they only have to forfeit theirs they will still have ours.

Agreed. Belichick should have been suspended in addition to the fine, and four games would have been about right.

I guess in the NFL, coaches are judged differently than players for gross misconduct. :\

Wade Wilson got 4 games for HGH even though he was taking it for medical reasons. Where are the pictures Bellicheat?? Or do you not even need any because you are a "genius"?

Then by equal measure (and recollection of why others have been suspended), Belichick should get a vacation for the rest of the season.

They should make the playoffs but there should be no "if" they make the playoffs they lose a 1st, they should lose both 1st rounders no matter where they finish, plus a 2nd and 3rd, and throw in a Belichick 6 game suspension.

The fines are irrelevant and don't mean much.

It means something if you fine the organization 10 million dollars like I suggested in my thread. For those that don't know in Formula 1 racing a team was just caught cheating and fined 100 MILLION DOLLARS.

Their other pick comes from the ***** and they get to keep that. Of course it will be a higher pick than the one they lost..

The commissioner also ordered the team to give up next year's first-round draft choice if it reaches the playoffs and second- and third-round picks if it doesn't.
