Browns rookie safety out for season
Jones already thinking about next season
The Associated Press has confirmed what Cleveland.com first told you around noon - that rookie safety Sean Jones is out for the season.
Jones tore the ACL in his left knee going for an interception during practice on Tuesday.
"It was an unfortunate and a freaky type of a deal," Browns coach Butch Davis said Thursday.
Jones, who has no history of knee problems, will have surgery on June 22.
"It's pretty disappointing, but I just have to keep my spirits up," he said.
To bolster the secondary in the wake of Jones' injury, the Browns signed former Buccaneers and Colts safety David Gibson today.
