Longtime Ram Butler catches on with Redskins

ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Redskins signed veteran cornerback Jerametrius Butler on Thursday.
Butler, 28, spent six years with the St. Louis Rams, but missed the 2005 season with a knee injury and played sparingly after returning last year.
Butler, a fifth-round draft pick out of Kansas State in 2001, played in 63 games with 31starts for the Rams. His best season was 2004, when he had five interceptions and 79 tackles.
The Rams did attempt to trade Butler during this year's draft, but found no serious suitors at the time, in part because of Butler's contract. His deal with the Rams had three years remaining, at base salaries of $2 million (2007), $2.5 million (2008) and $3 million (2009).
Butler's career began to spiral, however, when he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the team's 2005 training camp. After Butler rehabilitated the surgically repaired knee, he sustained a serious hamstring injury last summer in camp.
Joe Gibbs doghouse must be nicer than Linehans.:)
Not surprising, considering it was the Redskins that signed him to that offer sheet a few years ago.
How many millions are they wasting, er, spending on him?

Adam Schefter, of NFL.com, reports the Washington Redskins have signed unrestricted free-agent CB Jerametrius Butler (Rams) to a one-year deal worth $595,000.
I don't think they realize it is a different guy than before. They must not know he sucks
Does Butler suck? I can't answer that question. Before his injury he was a good corner. Havnt seen him play much since except the fumble recovery vs Green Bay last year. I think this is a smart by the Skins 595,000 compared to the contract that we matched a few years back and Butler could be a decent pick up for them. I for one can't say Butler sucks because when he played a full season for us he wasnt too bad.
Adam Archuleta worked out so well they're going to try it again.:) It will be interesting to see what Butler actually has left.
For $595k it's worth the gamble.
how could anyone know if he is any good or not anymore when he never saw the field all last year. for 595k, its a great pickup. no downside at all.

Exactly, some people throw the word "sucks" around pretty easily. He hasn't played a full season since 2004, and only played in 6 games sparingly since then. So how can anyone say he "sucks" when he has hardly played.
His attitude towards special teams last year didn't impress me and obviously put him in the doghouse and sealed his fate here with the Rams, but as a player nobody really knows what he has left in the tank.
LOL I can't believe Butler didn't take them for more money. He could have gotten way more out of the deep pocket skins lol
