C. Johnson to skip team workouts

Bengals | C. Johnson to skip team workouts
Wed, 19 Mar 2008 09:22:48 -0700

The Sporting News reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Johnson says he will not participate in the Bengals offseason strength and conditioning program, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer. The team workouts are not mandatory, however Johnson can earn a $250,000 bonus by attending.

Does he want out or a new contract, I'm not sure.

Is he making to much money or what? Must be nice to throw $250,000.00 away like it was pocket change!

I agree with jkramsfan, just let him go. If they don't, it's going to be a big distraction for the team and a long season.

Yes, by all means deal him....preferably to the Rams.

Re: C. Johnson to skip team workouts

Does the guy make plays? Yes. Is he a woman beater? No. Does he use steroids? Doesn't appear to. Does he get fined for stupid stuff like touchdown dances? Well...yea but at least they are touchdowns.

He's not a bad egg. He's just a Page Ranking hound. I'd rather have a Chad Johnson or Terrell Owens type anyday than someone who gets into trouble more for off the field antics.

That sums it up pretty well. I still remember the Rams getting penalized for the Bob-n-Weave. What's wrong with touchdown celebration penalties....at least it shows you're scoring.

I honestly think they should deal him. I know the Rams can't afford it. Wait, the Jets can.

Re: C. Johnson to skip team workouts

It'd put a hamper on his trying to get traded if he got hurt during offseason training. Plus it makes the FO just a little more upset with him. Besides, if he gets his way, the 250,000 will be chump change because he'll get a flashy new contract and get paid $20+ million in guaranteed money.

As an interesting salary cap tidbit. That either frees up a little space for them this year, or it could add into next year's cap, I'm not sure.
