Cardinals QB Leinart having protection problems
Arizona Cardinals QB Leinart to become a father
August 30, 2006
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Southern California basketball player Brynn Cameron will miss the upcoming season because she is expecting a baby with Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart, according to her father.
Cameron is due to deliver a boy in November, Stan Cameron told the Ventura County Star for Wednesday's editions.
Cameron, a 20-year-old junior guard, and Leinart dated while he attended USC. He graduated in December and was drafted by the Cardinals in April.
Asked Wednesday about Cameron, Leinart said, "I'm not going to comment."
In the past, he has declined comment on other personal information.
Cameron and Leinart reportedly broke up last year but still talk frequently, according to Stan Cameron, who spoke to the newspaper from out of state.
"Brynn does not want to get married," he said. "She wants to finish school and let Matt do his thing and then figure it out."
Cameron said his daughter, who graduated from Newbury Park High in Ventura County, doesn't want to comment until after the baby is born.
"It might not be the best timing in the world, but we are obviously very happy to have a new baby in the family," Stan Cameron said. "Brynn just found out about a month ago and told the team on Monday."
USC announced Tuesday that Cameron would sit out this season for undisclosed personal reasons.
She averaged 9.8 points as a freshman starter for USC but appeared in only 13 games last season after undergoing a second surgery on her hip.
"Once the baby is born, she wants to get back to playing basketball again and finish school," Stan Cameron said. "I know Brynn will make a great mom. Things will be fine. It will be fun."

You would think that a leader of the Trojan squad would know better than to go out in the rain without his hat on.

Well played, Sir.
I'm telling you, Kurt (Felix) Warner and Matt (Oscar) Leinart could be a great SitCom!

Re: Cardinals QB Leinart having protection problems
That's what he gets for holding out for $14 million...now he has to pay a lot more in child support.

Hmm. Maybe this is why he held out. He'll be paying through the nose for child support, but not alimony.

Sheeesh, poor kid. I feel bad for the little one if Leinart doesn't get back with her, I mean they talk a lot, isn't that sort of strange? Hmm, get back together!!

Re: Cardinals QB Leinart having protection problems
Keep in mind folks that the Horizontal Mambo that led to the blessed event apparantly transpired in california, well known for all sorts of bizarre legal holdings. Lord only knows what his ultimate obligation to this woman will turn out to be. She is going to miss a full season on the basketball team and who knows what he promised her when he was persuading her to see paradise by the dashboard lights.
I have zero sympathy for him. If there was one guy that should have known better, it was big matt. Money aside, i hope he at least takes responsibility and plays a role in the child's life as the child is certainly an innocent victim of the carelessness of both parents.

Well said, I feel so bad for the poor child. I really hope they get back together or something, just for the child's sake. I mean they broke up, but they talk a lot? Come on, just atleast make sure you're a good father.

Re: Cardinals QB Leinart having protection problems
The children get the short end of the stick in these situations.
Marrying the girl would be the "right thing" to do, but only if they are serious about making a go of it and not causing the child to suffer later.
She'd be better off with someone who would be a daddy and not just a father.

Maybe it's me but somethings not adding up here. Supposedly they broke up last year... She found out a month ago that she is pregnant.....She is due in November. I would venture a guess that since they broke up they have been doing alot more than just talking. I'm not pointing the finger at either of them as it takes 2 to tango...but what was she thinking ???
On a lighter note another word for bagged is sacked.

Re: Cardinals QB Leinart having protection problems
I agree completely that it takes two to tango. I am not holding the woman blameless in this situation, but the thread was about leinhart. I am making no underlying assumption about what happened here, maybe she told leinhart she was using protection, but why should he take the risk anyway? One assumption i am prepared to make is that he didnt take proper precautions and i dont see anyway around that view, unless of course one of those rare unanticipated spontaneous breakage events occurred at the exact moment of consumation.
