Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports Chicago Bears RB Cedric Benson (shoulder) was carted off the field Friday, Aug. 4, after injuring his left shoulder. Benson went down after getting hit in rapid succession by LB Brian Urlacher and SS Mike Brown. Benson was treated on the field for about seven minutes before being driven to the locker room where his shoulder was wrapped. Head coach Lovie Smith said the team will get X-rays on it, but all they knew was that it was a shoulder injury.

As he was treated on the field for a while before being carted off it sounds quite bad, wasnt Thomas Jones injured this offseason aswell?

Jones' injury is a minor one to his hamstring, and he's listed as day to day. But if Benson had to be carted off the field because of a shoulder injury, then you can squash the Jones trade talks here and now.

Definitely. If he popped the shoulder thats real bad for an RB. When Pisa popped his shoulder a couple of seasons back it popped out another 8 times or something. With the pounding RBs are expected to take there is no way Thomas Jones goes anywhere.

If its worse then a dislocation then he is going to be out for quite a while.

I would not say that, They still have adrian Peterson who is a pretty good back.

Peterson is fairly ok but is nowhere near starter material. The Bears offense needs a good RB to drive them, so there is definitely no way Jones gets traded. By getting rid of Jones the Bears would be putting games right in the hands of Rex Grossman, who isnt exactly a guy you would want throwing 45 passes a game

I wouldnt want him throwing 4 passes a game if I was the coach.
