Re: Clements, Lewis sign with San Francisco
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/...gid=40&auth=31There are reports that the *****' deal with free agent safety Michael Lewis includes $10 million in guaranteed money. That's an incredible bonus for a player who lost his starting job to Sean Considine.
:O

I didn't buy him as a quarterback. He's just so stiff, especially when he drops back to pass. Really stiff. He reminds me of Kurt Warner.

Re: Clements, Lewis sign with San Francisco
Wow, for some reason I thought I read elsewhere that they signed him for relatively cheap. That's an insane amount to pay for Lewis.

Re: Clements, Lewis sign with San Francisco
Really not that bad of an investment for a team in a division with Holt, Bruce, Fitz, Boldin, and Branch. But, damn, that is alot of money!!

Re: Clements, Lewis sign with San Francisco
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...ohn&id=2786311The ***** are going to give Ravens nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin a three-year, $6 million contract that includes a $3 million signing bonus.
That seems reasonable enough. If he can do the job, we might finally be able to run the 3-4 with some success finally. EDIT: It's not official yet, though.Last edited by Brain Daddy; -03-03-2007 at 01:16 AM.

Re: Clements, Lewis sign with San Francisco
The ******* are being very aggressive tin FA this year. Is it going to bite them in the behind in the years to come cap wise or is it worth it? Albeit, they have picked up some great big name players. They've been putting out some extrordinary contract dollars here in FA.

Re: Clements, Lewis sign with San Francisco
The Niners have spent the last 3 years trying to get in a good position and then blow it on one day!Seriously Clements is a good CB and Lewis is a decent player but they have really over-payed which I suppose was always gonna happen with them because they had so much cap-room..:l

Re: Clements, Lewis sign with San Francisco
Don't let the 80 million 8 year contract fool you. In reality its a 6 year deal worth 43 million or something like that. The ***** are smart, and they know what they are doing. 10 mill for Lewis is not that bad, with the increase in salary cap, all free agents cost are going up.

Re: Clements, Lewis sign with San Francisco
zero is right.....FA's are going to cost some cash, but it's half monopoly money anyway. Salaries are always backloaded and the bonus is the only part that is ALWAYS guaranteed. Actually, the whiners got Clements and his market value for how long he will be with this team.
That's why it's getting so hard to get attached to any player and really can you blame them for going for the money?
