Clue me in on Amendola
WW's replacement is now signed. Danny comes to NE.
Good player? Good instincts? Hands? Get Yac's?
Doesnt seem like he's very durable though... care to share your thought on the player?

Good player, great heart, excellent hands. It's not that he is not durable... he just plays with an intensity that is conducive to collecting injuries.
I for one am very sad to see him go. If he doesn't get hurt he can easily put up Welker type numbers in that offense.

Re: Clue me in on Amendola
You'll love him. Not a ton of straight-line speed, but super quick in and out of breaks. Smart kid, will never take a play off.
As to the injury issues......yes, over the past two seasons, he has had 3 separate injuries that have sidelined him for various games. In 2011 he tore a triceps in week 2 and that ended his season. In 2012, he first broke his collarbone (3 games), came back and had a minor foot injury (2 games). Some will look at that and say he's injury prone. They would be wrong. He simply had a bad couple of breaks. He ended the season at 100%. He will be Brady's security blanket.
What you guys just did was go out and get Welker......but 6 years younger. Congrats on a great signing."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Clue me in on Amendola
I guarantee you that after next year half of your fan base will be looking for Amendola jerseys. Guy is absolute dynamite in the slot. Best hands in the league. Quick in his breaks, nobody can cover Amendola in the slot and completely shut him down.

Re: Clue me in on Amendola
Judging by all the praise he's getting in this thread (and many many others) you'd think we'd have kept the guy. Yet we didn't. I doubt it was because of money, because 6 million isn't a lot for someone with the "best hands in the league". He was the best out of a bad bunch of receivers. He reminds me of Bob Sanders - talented but reckless and it takes him off the field far too often. Is he injury prone? I don't know, but his track record hasn't been encouraging.
