Cromartie to jets
Just announced on ESPN during the lsu game. Cromartie traded to the Jets for a 3rd round pick.
The Chargers traded CB Antonio Cromartie to the Jets for a conditional draft pick Thursday night, according to a league source.
The pick will be at lowest a third-round selection in 2011. It also could be a second-round pick in 2011 depending on Cromartie’s performance.

Man I wouldn't mind the Rams shopping some 2011 picks around.

Re: Cromartie to jets
Cromartie top 3 cover corner? alright. Getting lots of interceptions in 1 season doesn't make you a cover corner.
This is good for the Jets though and it definitely gives them the best corner tandem in the NFL. Cromartie could definitely have 10+ picks again with this defense and being opposite Revis who is a top 2 corner.

Wow that secondary is scary now. I heard they cut Shephard as well. Is there a fit for him in STL? Insider says he could be expensive, do we give him a go?

Re: Cromartie to jets
Top 3 cornerbacks don't get dealt for only a 3rd round pick no matter what kind of off the field problems they have.
In 2008 QB's had a 94.1 passer rating and a 68.2 completion percentage on passes when they targeted Cromartie. He also gave up 704 yards on 60 reception to the receivers he was covering. Those are not the numbers of a top 3 cornerback, they are actually the numbers of one of the worst cornerbacks in the league. He had 1 great season but since then he has been anything but great.
I think Cromartie will bounce back in New York though. He won't have to cover the other team's number 1 receiver because of Darrell Revis and the Jets will always get good pressure on the QB which will help him a lot. He could end up getting more interceptions than he had in 2007 with this Jets defense because of the talent around him and his ball hawking skills.
